I really was keen to see AJ vs Whyte...but I guess we'll never know...anyways

AJ is British project fighter (but he is A tier fighter no doubt) he has a few good W's but at the end of the day, Ruiz ruined Hearn's long-time plan... I would love to see AJ vs Ruiz 3!

To conclude he is a great fighter but he is at most top 5 in his generation.

Even if he has the best record, you can't live on old glory all the time and why not have another big name on such a resume?

"that loss looks good on their resume."

    Yep.

But Joshua's losses to Ruiz and Usyk x2 are not in that category. Joshua's performance against Ruiz was diabolical and against Usyk he was outperformed by Chisora and Briedis. In all of these fights his heart was questioned too.

NO Joshua won all his belts at home, quit in his first fight outside Britain to his own cherry pick, infact he has only ever fought outside Britain his whole career three times winning one and losing the other two fights. Fury won his titles on the road against long standing Champions,Usyk won all his titles on the road. All three are still active fighters so it’s an open book on all three of them but as of today Usyk has the best resume . Fights we’d like to see Fury v Usyk Fury v Joshua Wilder v Joshua Wilder v Usyk also Zhang is in the mix with fights with these three we’d like to see .

"Do you count Duran vs Dejesus 1 as a big fight?"

Ask me about heavyweight boxing. It's probably bigger/more significant than the vast majority of Duran's fights. Where it ranks I don't know.

"Mayweather lost his biggest fight vs Castillo right?"

He got the nod, whether most agree or not.

"Hopkins and JMM lost in their pro debut does that count to losing their biggest fight?"

Your debut isn't necessarily your biggest fight, in fact it hardly ever is. Joshua's American debut at MSG in his 8th world title fight (and rn his only appearance in America), which turned out to be one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, is not comparable to post-prison Hopkins' debut.

"the Ruiz loss was not a big fight"

It looked like a routine knockover job title defence at the time but we often can't see how history will unfold. It turned out to be a career-defining fight and easily one of the most memorable of the era.

No boxer or anyone on this forum would choose to have Joshua's resume over the available alternatives. It's abject dishonesty.

    Good point.

Joshua hasn't had a significant win for several years, whether that's Ruiz 2 or Wlad. It looks like Charr/Kabayel will be next so I can't see it changing any time soon.

Of all the alternatives, only Fury's and Usyk's resumes can match AJ's resume. And if we look at resumes ONLY of heavyweight, then only Fury remains. What are the other alternatives?

Former world champion, who won: Dillian Whyte, Charles Martin (I know, but it's a title fight), Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin, Andy Ruiz, Kubrat Pulev...

Fury-Usyk-Wilder-Joshua-Chisora results comparison (simplified and omitting the filler)

    Fury’s wins: W. Klitschko (39, away, underdog), Wilder x2 (34, away, underdog, 35, away)

Fury’s draw: Wilder (33, away, underdog)

    3-0-1

    Usyk’s wins: Joshua x2 (31, away, underdog, 32, away)

    2-0

    Wilder’s draw: Fury (30, home)

    Wilder’s losses: Fury x2 (31, home, 33, home, underdog)

    0-2-1

    Joshua’s wins: W. Klitschko (41, home)

    Joshua’s losses: Ruiz (29, away), Usyk x2 (34, home, 35, home, underdog)

    1-3

    Chisora’s losses: Fury x3 (22, 26, underdog, 34, underdog), V. Klitschko (40, underdog), Haye (31, underdog), Usyk (33, underdog)

    0-6

    AJ - 29 fights

    Usyk
    Wlad
    Povetkin
    Fat Andy
    J-Park
    Pulev
    Whyte
    Takam
    Martin
    Helenius

We can even include the likes of Breazeale and Molina who are considered strong wins for The Dosser and weak ones for AJ which tells you a lot

    And Franklin and Johnson

    Belly - 35 fights

    Wlad
    The Dosser
    Cunningham
    Whyte
    Chisora
    Wallin
    Johnson

    Ngannou

    The Dosser - 46 fights

    Belly
    Stiverne
    Ortiz

    Arreola
    Helenius

Then you have to don you Captain Spin merchant hat and hype up the likes of Szpilka, Breazeale, Duhaupas, Washington, Scott, Molina, Harrison etc. most whom of are comically glass-jawed to try and make it seem like his resume isn't garbage

He's had 17 more fights than AJ ''to this day''

I don't consider him a sufficiently good opponent, even when he's not 284 lbs untrained. Officially 38 year old Ortiz didn't get in either (the 43 year old version went 50-50 with Ruiz over 12) so I don't think I'm being unfair. The most contentious omission is Briedis for Usyk but his best win at heavyweight is Charr, he lost to Opetaia and the vast majority had him losing to Noel Gevor.

You can beat ten Takam's (didn’t drop or stop any of his 11 best opponents, including Yoka and Forrest and didn’t drop or stop MMA journeyman Maldonado over the 10 round distance under boxing rules) and they don't equate to one elite win.

I didn't think you were to be fair - there are plenty that value quantity alone... I didn't mean to imply you were
