This could actually be pretty decent, we're so used to the only AJ interviews being done by YouTube outlets and he's usually in fight week. Theroux may actually get something a bit different out of him that's not all boxing talk and the usual PR garbage.

I feel sorry for AJ, seemed lost and sad behind the eyes at times. Not sure if all his demons and issues are boxing related. Seems like a decent enough bloke.

    Theroux annoys me immensely.

And I don’t think I can watch anything he hosts as a result.

He is good at playing dumb and getting people to open up, as he then attempts some kind of hatchet job on them.

Therefore, really if he wants to follow you around as a celebrity then be on guard. As we all know he is after a story and to paint you in a bad light.

Yeah, I've never been a big Theroux fan. There are far better documentarians out there. He may be one of the more famous, but that doesn't necessarily make him one of the best.

He seems to want to set people up, like you said, rather than letting it play out naturally and have revelations come out organically. He manipulates information out of a situation rather than coaxing it out like a good documentary maker should do.

He's not awful, but he is the McDonald's of documentary makers. He is what Michael Moore is to political discourse.

I actually thought it was excellent and quite an insight.

It's a pity aj won't do a sit down interview like this with a boxing fan/journalist who can drill into his relationship with boxing, training, trainers etc more rather than the £s.

The more I watch him though the more I'm convinced him and hearn are using stuff like this to push a narrative of good vs evil or black vs white for a fury fight.

5 minutes in, have paused it to put the kettle on.

Theroux called Kugan Cassius a journalist, it can only get better from here.

Femi rapped about guns. How dumb is that. He is one of the most protected British fighters of all time.
Role model my ASS. We ain't never ever getting the Fury or Wilder fights.

I watched it, nothing new came out of it, I think Louis went pretty easy on the questioning - or at least the questions AJ wanted to answer.

I'd have liked him to go into more regarding what happened behind the scenes the night of the Ruiz loss, what his future plans are etc. What I see is nearly all interviewers play it "safe" with him, they'll say "Is the plan for Wilder and Fury next" and he always says "for sure, for sure" that's not really answering. He's a bit like Beckham in terms of having his brand and nothing can tarnish it. I expect him to have a few more meaningless fights against guys like Ngannou, then he'll go into promotion and modelling watches / aftershave some more.

I agree with that. There's obviously something that went on before that ruiz fight. The way aj came out of the dressing room and the story's of his dad afterwards all point to something major happening yet not 1 journalist has pushed him for an answer on what happened.

We will probably see it come out when he retires.
