Haney will go on with his career sweeping this under the rug all the while knowing full well that he was beaten by the older smaller Lomachenko and he wasn't just beaten he was seriously whopped. Loma has been robbed of legendary status and it sucks.

It was outrageous, I had Loma 8-4 IIRC.

Still, I think Haney is going to get starched by the Rougarou, so karma will come around!

His legacy is baldy damaged by the salido and haney robberies/decisions and the lack of a very winnable lopez rematch.
If he gets those decisions he goes from HOF to ATG, if he won a lopez rematch he would be in very serious company on ATG lists

    Look at those numbers

I think it ended up at like 118k in total and only 16% or 17% had Haney winning

I don't think I've seen a poll for a fight even 1/10th that size before

It’s crazy, how are these people paid to score?

I imagine it depends on your definition of "robbery." Was it Roy Jones at the Olympics?

    No.

Did the wrong guy get the nod? Absolutely, and most boxing fans--excluding the usual suspects and the "Floyd TBE, YO!" crowd --- know it.

Kovalev-Ward was the one that upset me the most. I almost completely gave up watching boxing.

After that, I expect boxers from other countries to be robbed when they fight in the USA.

People like an underdog story. When the underdog fights on practically even terms in a fight they are widely expected to lose, there's a tendency towards awarding that combatant rounds simply for competing on even terms. I think the entire Barrera-Morales trilogy is plagued by this phenomenon when you examine each fight on its own merits. When you also factor in fandom and how emotionally involved fight fans tend to get, it's actually quite an ask to expect any spectator with a vested interest to be objective with their scoring.

I don't think this fight passes the threshold to be called a robbery. It was a closely contested fight that could have been scored for Haney, for Lomachenko, or even a draw. Perhaps the latter would have been the best outcome as it would have guaranteed an immediate rematch.

If you want to see a genuine robbery, look no further than Whitaker-Chavez. This fight isn't that.

    Not an reasonable post.

Loma, though, would not qualifiy as the kind of underdog that would elicit sympathy points, if you will, by simply over performing expectations. This wasn't Fury-Ngannou.

Many people, myself included, picked Lomachenko to win. Moreover, it's obvious that Haney himself was concerned late in that fight.

Your point about fans being emotionally invested in a particular outcome is not without merit. But that would not account for the large number of impartial observers who also felt the wrong guy got the nod.

To be sure, it was a close, competitive fight. A close, competitive fight, however, can still have a clear winner.

What does Mayweather and his fans have to do with scoring a fight for Haney?
