Lewis quite early by destroying Willard...

I will make two observations there.

These are only the surviving records of the men he KO'd, and while I appreciate Lamar Clark's limitations, I have never questioned his power.

I made a bet with myself you would not answer my question.
I also made a bet with myself that your get out would be.
"These are only the surviving records of the men he KO'd."

You have done this so often its entirely predictable, and my answer remains the same .

Until YOU come up with additional names that's their resume!
    1. Have you even heard of 75% of his opponents?
2.What if they did have additional fights, and lost them?
    3. Willard stopped a collection of nobodies with a couple of trial horses amongst them.
    4. Bottom line apart from a tired ,out of shape 37 years old Johnson,Willard never stopped anyone worth a cup of cold ****,journeymen took him the distance.
So please stop with the BS.

Two of his ko wins may well have been fixes.

    1. Calm down.
    2. Unfortunately unrecorded fights, are a day to day reality of what we deal with.
    3. So even if he is the Buddy Baer, or Shannon Briggs of the era, you are still looking at a heavy hitter.
    4. Johnson had fought a ridiculous run of opposition over the past fifteen years, and Willard was the man who put an end to it.

    I'm very calm.
You have yet again ducked my question,as I knew you would.
Now you are following your usual course, obfuscating off on a tangent .

I very much doubt Willard was as good as Briggs or Baer either in ability or in power.

Johnson was out of shape, following years of high living which you yourself have commented on several times in the past!
He had a spare tire around his midriff. and an ass Jennifer Lopez would have been proud of.
Johnson was also 37 years old and the fight was scheduled for a totally unrealistic 45rds,in short everything was loaded against him.
At that stage of his career it's likely several fighters with the necessary durability to take an early drubbing ,might have beaten Jack .
All Willard showed in his career was a left jab, decent power which he was always reluctant to employ unless stung by incoming ,and a top chin.Men 50lbs lighter went the distance with him,and some of them beat him.

What other fighters do you think would have been able to replicate Willard's feat of beating Johnson?

Lets' say Willard doesn't show, and you can substitute in anybody else on the same date.

    McVey,Jeannette,Langford.
I'd also pick all three to beat Willard.

I would make the observation that those three were getting on a bit themselves by then.

Either way the last time that Johnson had been stopped was fourteen years previously.

What happens if Willard lands his uppercut first?

He ko'd a novice with this shot, who else succumbed to it?
Its similar to Carnera's uppercut on Sharkey, except if you believe Primo's ko was genuine ,at least it was on a world class fighter.

    No actually they really weren't.
    Langford was 29 and prime.
    McVey was 31.
    Jeannette was older at 35.

    And Willard himself was 33.

Their best days were behind them, and Willard was basically as good as he ever got.
