Possibly yeah people are looking at the Joyce/Parker fight, but Joyce had very good workrate in that fight and kept taking the fight to Parker.

Wilder is more like a sniper and doesn't use alot of workrate like Joyce does, and Parker does have a fairly solid chin the Joyce stoppage was a accumulation of punishment not a single punch.

I think Parker does better vs Wilder than alot people think, but I don't think Parker has that extra gear to actually pull off the upset.

But again Wilder is getting close to 40 years and has been inactive so who knows.

"So what if they have name value."

    You'd make a great promoter......Jesus.

Name recognition is one of the most important factors for crying out loud, it's why you tune in. It's a business.

I see comments similar to this quite often and I shake my head in disbelief.

Aside from the "name value" which is an extremely vital cog in the wheel of selling anything in business.....AJ vs Wallin and Parker vs Wilder are actually good matches. What boxing fan wouldn't want to see those?

Again you concisely articulate the problem with boxing today. Promoting, business, selling.

I'm a boxing fan, I want to watch boxing fights.

I don't tune in for name value, last night I stayed up late to watch Aspinall v Pavlovic. Not because of name value, but because it's a fight between the best two HWs available right now.

These fights are good, but a fight card featuring no legitimate championships should never be ppv.

Yeah and got paid diddly squat compared to what Ngannou just got. Regardless, it's good that you watched it.

The fighters at the top level in boxing get looked after a lot more financially compared to those in the UFC. In order to generate the revenue to pay the fighters and all involved, as you put it, "Promoting, business, selling" is required.

"These fights are good, but a fight card featuring no legitimate championships should never be ppv."

Says who? Two future hall of fame ex heavyweight champions fighting on the same card is hardly a standard boxing event.

I'm not watching to see who gets the most money ffs. I'm a sports fan not a finance fan.

Ex champions. Not facing a current champion. When we pay for ppv we should be paying for championship calibre fights. Not two men who haven't won a meaningful fight in near half a decade.

This card seems very interesting! Let's hope it actually happens. Pretty sure Dubois will quit again even against Chisora....

I'm not a finance fan either but I understand the status quo, if boxers get paid 10x more that money has to get generated otherwise the ship will sink.

6 weeks for this? Not gonna happen. Would be a great card though. PPV worthy for me.

Nonsense. Boxing wanting ten times more is why the biggest fights don't happen.

It's why we aren't seeing a card with Fury v Usyk and then Bivol v Beterbiev on PPV.

Let the ship sink and pay fighters when they are in fights that are worth the money.

How is it nonsense? It's the status quo, if the fighters at the top level in boxing are getting paid 10 times more then that money has to come from somewhere, it has to be generated via promotion and PPV.

These are heavyweights, so not needing to make weight leaves a door open. But yeah, this feels rushed given the number of big names involved.

    It's not

It's a fleece job designed to make punters think the AJ Wilder fight is next

Additional pay days for both whilst still avoiding each other
