100% if you have a TV slot. Look at Matchroom's NxtGen show on the weekend. Callum French stepped up in his 5th fight and lost. Mark Dickinson already stepped up against Ben Ridings in his 5th fight and then again on the weekend in his 6th against Grant Dennis. When prospects who fight on TV get to 7/8-0 without fighting anyone of note, it's generally not a good sign, unless they've had those 7/8 fights within a short space of time like a year.

I think as well boxers subconsciously forget what its like to be in a competitive fight after so many years fighting journeymen

Yeah you see it time and time again when fighters come up against somebody who actually wants to win after years of fighting knockovers or survivors. These are the fights that really make a boxer. Gotta have that gut checked early and often if you want to really succeed.

I think Eddie is probably glad French got beat cause he isn't good enough, no power or strength for the pros. That's probably why he's been so inactive, cause Eddie knew he's no good. To be honest Matchroom need a clear out there's too many bums in their stable. Aqib Fiaz was useless and got beat the other week. As everyone knows Campbell Hatton is worthless, Shabaz Masoud should have lost at the weekend he looked crap, like French he has no power or strength, And to be honest I don't rate Mark Dickinson much, I think he'll get beat at British title level. Zelfa Barrett has gone further than he even should have for his mediocre ability, time to get rid of him. John Hedges couldn't crack an egg, Caoihmin Agyarko is poor, he went the full distance with that 40 years old Dickinson just stopped ffs, I think Troy Williamson will beat him.

I think as a general rule of thumb that's about right. But same as anything else, not everyone progresses at the same right and some fighters may need more than 3 or 4

When you look at other boxing nations and cards in USA or Japan. The practice of having average lads with zero losing records beating up on paid for losers who are only there to lose is the worst.

I assume it’s because of the promoters, and the fact they get away with it. But the gatekeepers at the TV companies and networks need to be smarter. This isn’t hard.

People who watch boxing want to see competitive fights. They don’t want to see a move around with a hopeless journeyman going through the motions against an average prospect.

TV companies and TV executives do your job.
