Why would the Joshua v Wilder fight be on DAZN globally for sure? If the Saudi's are going to cough up so much money to make that fight surely they will decide which platform to use? It makes no sense for them to use DAZN PPV in UK as that is probably going to get them the least numbers.
The card is ON. Press conference is tomorrow apparently. Fair play to Joshua for taking on a southpaw in Wallin on relatively short notice. I'll be honest and say though that I'm not a fan of Daniel Dubois vs Jarrell Miller though. Maybe with the money Saudi Arabia are paying Miller, he will be able to pay the money he owns Hearn. Fair-play to all these promoters putting their top fighters on the card. Apparently the Saudi people wanted to make Opetaia vs Riakporhe- Opetaia is definitely on the card. Because the Saudis want to build a big card for December with them two as the two main events, so they can then fight each other next year. I'm sure these Saudi people will deliver the money for the fight as otherwise it makes no sense for them to be on the same card. I reckon we see the fight next year. Only stumbling block will be if Joshua decides to fight Hrgovic for the vacant IBF World Title instead.
And whatever channels the show appears on, it would be very unusual for high-profile, headliner boxers from multiple promotions to appear on the same card. To be welcomed, regardless of who's organising and paying. Maybe the Saudis will end up making a bid to unifying boxing the way they're trying to attempt with golf...
Depends if the Saudis want their money back or to advertise themselves. The fights will get mainstream coverage anyway and the casuals tend to follow Joshua.- they'd find a way to see it on DAZN (pub, mate's house, risk a short subscription, etc). Might also be easier for the Saudis to deal with one global platform, than Sky / ESPN / others around the world - you wouldn't blame them. It's entirely the point of DAZN in the first place. For once I doubt old Frank would be bothered about TNT taking a break from it. Kind of reminds me of Benn-Eubank 2; Frank and Don King did the TV rights, nobody doubted it was Hearn's show though.
I mean a lot of people here said that Joshua wouldn't fight Wallin so that is an interesting fight, although we would all prefer Joshua vs Wilder. Dubois is coming off a KO loss so it's a bonus to get him back in the ring so quickly. Miller is terrible though I agree. Dubois doesn't have a decent win at all on his resume. Maybe he'll rematch Joyce next year. Since Warren is organising the event, how come Zhang isn't taking part?
The presser is at 6pm tomorrow at Wembley Arena and it is going to be historic. It really doesn’t matter, but the event/promotion says “Queensbury P & Riyad Season presents”
Can't agree. I was dead against the Fury-Ngannou event, considered the main event a novelty (this aged well didn't it?) and undercard mostly mismatches except Wardley v Adeleye. It wasn't worth the PPV price and I was happy to wait for highlights. This proposed card is streets ahead of that, with ridiculous depth. It's almost too deep: Wilder, Joshua and Bivol would all expect to headline; can't imagine any of them agreeing to drop too far down the card. I'd buy this without a doubt unless they priced it at £30+. It isn't the main event we all want, sure. But happy to hear anyone's submissions for deeper cards in the modern era: I can't think of one.
I think going with the platform that does the most buys would make them the most money AND give them most biggest advertising reach. Surely it goes hand in hand? The platform that gets most PPV's is the one with most potential customers and the wider audience. How would showing it on a smaller platform be better for advertising purposes?
I’m hearing Warren laid down the law to Joshua, said you don’t get to fight your usual bums in Saudi, gave him a list and OTTO was the weakest name on the list. Hearns would never have let AJ in with a guy like OTTO, checks out.
Unifying boxing would be the best thing ever, 1 belt no ducking if you wanna be a champ or remain a champ no easy routes no preferential treatment. I can only dream
I wasn't really trying to make that point. I meant that if they're going out to get money then it doesn't matter about the coverage. Broadcasters will bid and have to try and make the money back. If it's purely about cash and DAZN can outbid Sky/ESPN/etc combined, Saudi is none the wiser. The main point was lack of time; it might well be easier to deal with a DAZN, just do one deal globally, and spend the next few weeks promoting the hell out of it in other channels. Put the heat on the promoters since they've had an easy touch putting the show together.
Why is Zhang not been mentioned on the 23rd bonanza? Maybe the Saudis know he will steal the show from Joshua and Wilder's fights. He would beat either if he was to fight them next
LOL @DramaShow got banned when from his posts he's seemingly posted nothing wrong. He must have been overly hassling the mods in pm and reports asking for people to be banned like the sly, control freak, worm he is
