Holyfield was looked at as past prime, especially after how he looked after the 3rd Bowe fight. Tyson was alot more intimidating when he got out of prison, dude was scary. Lol
I was a kid at primary school. It was the talk of the whole building. Teachers, kids, parents, everyone was talking about it. It was in a way that just wouldn't happen any more because no one cares about boxing now. I don't remember Tyson fighting Seldon. But the rematch with Bruno and these subsequent fights I do remember. Tyson was a huge favourite and I just remember everyone being in a state of shock about it.
I was at my Grandfather's house for Holyfield vs. Tyson 1. My Grandfather, Grandmother, Mother, and Father were there, along with my brother from New Jersey, who was visiting Maine. We made a real event out of it, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, mac and cheese, salads, chips, popcorn, and Stewarts Root Beer! We liked both fighters but we liked Evander more so we were all cheering for Evander Holyfield, which made it a great day indeed! My Dad and brother almost lost their voices. Hahaha. We all had a ball!
This is the only post I read on this thread or will read. I remember it too. That was a great night, to watch old ass, diminshed Holyfield give Tyson a boxing lesson. Good clean fun.. party time.
Was at a local friends house on a small Pacific Island drinking with the boys. TV was set up outside and we was partying. Big shock to everyone except the owner of the house who was the only one who picked Holyfield.
I was at the fight. The atmosphere was unlike any boxing match I ever attended. The tension was palpable. And, the (mostly) pro-Holyfield crowd was going crazy.
Was at a house party when this happened. Dudes (All casuals) came in talking about the ear bite, how awesome it was! I was like, "How is that crap awesome, you were robbed of a proper ending and good fight." F'n casuals....
