Well, clearly Conteh is to be favored in a strict boxing match. But in a fight? I'd suspect still yes, but it's interesting...
Dude...I remember. I watched all these fight in real-time. Conteh was the more skillful. Froch's in this with intangibles.
I was kinda joking because this statment has been said a lot quite frankly in here of all places. "Froch beat.... so and so" Conteh beat Finnegan, Rondon, Ahumada, Lopez, Hutchins, a list that, to me, is a better row of opponents than Froch´s. Just me.
I like this one. As good as Froch was,a prime Conteh was just that one level above. Harder hitting too. John Conteh UD 12/15.
Conteh could get down in the trenches when he had to especially fighting dirty with his head...... But I'll take Conteh to outbox Froch and win a clear decision.
I did not say "great win", I just mentioned as a top rated opponent... there is not much there but Rondon was no roast beef for anyone. He was fighting heavyweights the year before he faced Conteh, he was a top rated guy, I don't see why we would put someone like Abraham above Rondon as a fighter...
Froch, a fine 168 pounder, stands no chance here. He is taller and longer than John, but that is about it. Stylish and tough Conteh has every other advantage, including chin and power. John by easy, not so close decision. Froch's toughness is the only thing that keeps him around until the end.
Admittedly I don't know much about Rondon outside of what boxrec tells me, which is that he was fighting losing records in the lead up to his battle with Conteh before going on a 5 fight losing streak and quickly retiring. So the question is - and it's a sincere question - why should we put equal or greater value in beating Rondon over beating Arthur Abraham, a two-divisional world champion who made 10 successful defences of his IBF Middleweight title?
