Flanagan for me. I blame Warren for that though, some bad fights. How that Crolla fight wasn’t made is beyond comprehension, was the easiest fight in the world, unification, same city, opposite teams, SAME SCHOOL ffs. My dog could promote that! Everything that’s wrong with the sport in a nutshell.

Agree ref Witter mate. He lost to Timmy on a split on his worst night and looked decent winning his title against a not completely past it Corley who he beat by a country mile in reality. He should not be on that list, whereas Bellew definitely should.

Nicky Cook is an embarrassment holder even for the WBO back then and never successfully defended it. I was surprised he beat Alex Arthur.

Let’s remember Makabu was no where near the top 10 in the world at that time and was not the danger man that Hearn spinned him as. If he had been he would have been considered for the WBSS with the proper iron of the division 6 months later.

Essentially Bellew has achieved nothing apart from making some box office money.

Is Selby another of your hated boxers (along with AJ) or something Ian? He was fine and defended in the US. Skilful too.

He was very boring imo. Jonny Nelson another that could be on list, held WBO, never fought any one with a pulse iirc. Very boring also.

Agree ref Nelson being, ironically he was quite entertaining what he did a job on Thompson to take the title.

He did box Dominguez the ex WBC champion, but apart from that boxed a load of Warren fed averages.

And I'd have Amir Khan on there - possibly the most manufactured champion, got everything given to him easily whilst taking peds. Yet still became a glassed jawed, multi flawed laughing stock

Thats the problem with threads like this. They are posted in good faith but they are hi jacked by people with thier own agenda.Instead of giving the question posed any serious consideration they just use it as a tirade against a fighter they don`t like

Ok I will I'll chill out and go and watch the 900 times he's been knocked down:lol:

The time he got KTFO in about 30 seconds to a Colombian F level taxi driver in particular is my personal favourite:loel:

In fairness, boxing is professional entertainment, and you only get shots if you can find a promoter that thinks you're worth investing. Bellew was a mouthy, unlikeable nearly-man in the Cleverly / Stevenson days and to come out with a world title, one way or another, is more than most will ever do.

Bellews win against Makabu was a good one imo. Boyhood dream for Bellew, and an emphatic win against a very good opponent. These fighters go through hard times to realise there dreams, and many don’t make it. Credit where credits due in one of the toughest sports.
