I was a big fan of Vernon Forrest. I'm glad I got to see him fight in person against Sergio Rios on the Taylor vs. Hopkins 1 undercard.
I knew Arsen Aivzyan in Ft Worth Texas. He seemed a nice quite guy very friendly. he looked like Sly Stallone in the face though obviously smaller. He used to wear the Stars & Stripes trunks like Rocky did. They wanted to call him Rocky but he was very firm he said No!! my name is Arsen not Rocky lol He just seemed to disappear we all wondered what happened to him. Was a big surprise to know he'd been murdered by the Russian / Armenian mob R. I P Little Rocky
Shawn Cummings. British light middle \middle weight and total nutter !! Chopped up by his carer after being crippled in a road accident. Was never going to end well
Miroshnichenko was a a bronze medalist who lost to Bowe. He died at 39 after falling down a bunch of stairs outside his apartment. Officially, it wasn't murder. Gatti was obviously suicide. Agapito Sanchez: "Sánchez was pronounced dead on November 15, 2005, after being shot by an off-duty Dominican Air Force sergeant in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.[8] Sanchez died at a Santo Domingo hospital hours after surgery to remove two bullets from his stomach.[9] The police identified the murderer as Sergeant Diogenes Nova Rosario, who was later convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison."
I guess one might focus more on the sport they follow the most without expressly chasing up the same stats for other sports - but that list is very long and, seemingly, perhaps hard to beat. Separate to but just as dark, there are also the suicides in boxing (of which there are some suicides that some people suspect might’ve been murders) and boxers who committed murder themselves. Couldn’t tell you the numbers on those.
What was the name of that guy that made some great fight, a brawl, fought a african guy... and got murdered by a biker gang member ? ****, can´t remember the guys name nor the opponent, not having sucess on google.... in the 90s.
An American forensics board ruled Gatti’s death was almost certainly a homicide. He had blunt force trauma to the back of his head and laceration wounds consistent with a violent end. Also the purse strap that was found around his neck couldn’t support a quarter of his bodyweight. There were also bloody clothes and two blood soaked hand towels at the scene that were never tested by Brazilian authorities.
That investigation was paid for by Gatti’s family in order to secure the bag. Multiple other investigations supported suicide, a predictable end to a guy who was drunk, violent earlier in the night, and had CTE. His wife was also tiny. “At the family's request, a Quebec coroner agreed to exhume the body so that two pathologists could conduct a second autopsy. After an autopsy, the pathologists ruled there was "no clear evidence of foul play" and expressed doubt at the conclusions reached by the private investigators hired by Gatti's manager.[11] CBC's The Fifth Estate and HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel both interviewed witnesses who stated Gatti assaulted his wife in public the night before his death, and that the injuries to the back of his head came as result of Gatti fighting with a passer-by who attempted to intervene.[50]”
