Why did Sonny Liston say that Cleveland Williams treated him rudely

Maybe Sonny considers getting whacked upside the head with a few hard left hooks as rudeness ?

 

He didn’t? They were excellent friends and Liston even visited him in the hospital.

 

Sonny sent him a Christmas card every year and not only did Cleveland never send Liston one, he never even thanked him.

 

Perfect gentleman? He attacked his girlfriend with a meat cleaver.

 

I hear Cleveland also said Sonny was shorter than he looks but isn’t actually any shorter then listed and that he and Sonny had Deli Sandwiches together once. We only know what Williams got (A BLT with no crust) but what Liston had? It still persist as a mystery some say it was a Caesar with almonds.

 

I read that Cleveland said that Sonny Liston smells.. No wonder Sonny was cross with him

If Liston said it, good chance it was a tongue in cheek reference.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of fighters don't bother with deodorant in the ring. If the armpit smell throws off the opponent a bit, good. Same might go for brushing their teeth that morning, if we're being gross.

 

Can't judge by today's standards.

 

If Cleveland was rude to him, Ali was downright inhospitable the way he bullied Liston twice.

 

I know Marvin Johnson didn't shower during at least one camp and he may have done it routinely.
