Yea its not hard to imagine something happens on dec 23 that details wilder-aj AGAIN (a loss, a career ending injury, one of them deciding to call it quits etc)

He really needs a stoppage win. That's for sure.

A stoppage win is good, but a clear and controversy free win also will do the trick. I know everyone loves a KO, but there's more to boxing than that.

As a fan I prefer KOs, but my point has more to do with the business side of things. AJ needs a KO to revive his reputation, which has been sliding more or less non-stop for 4 1/2 years. Stopping Wallin specifically, would do a lot for him because Fury did not stop Wallin and was even hurt by him via the cut. Succeeding where Fury failed would mean something.

can't disagree with this. Well said. A KO win would be huge to restoring his confidence as well as quieting some naysayers.

I like how you bolded significantly. Just to illustrate the gap in skill level. You were right to do that.

Yeah it doesn't have the appeal it did 5 years ago. But if it get's made I'm still blatantly watching it.

Wallin will need to win 9 or 10 rounds to get a split decision.

No chance of a Wallin win on the cards. A close/controversial points win by AJ would be a big problem, though, and probably prompt Hearn to cash out AJ with a fight w/ Zhang.

If AJ stops Wallin, though, he stock goes up because that was something Tyson Fury did not manage.

I've no doubt that AJ can win a wide-ish points decision on merit. But AJ if goes after a KO and does silly things, Wallin is good enough to take advantage.

Not disagreeing with you but don't leave Hearn outside of the blame.

Both Hearns are to blame actually because when the fight started to get mentioned it was Barry Hearn who said 'the time isn't right just now, let it marinate a while longer.'

Marinate just doesn't last for 6-8 years Barry.

Ah man, AJ, Wilder, Hearn Jnr, Hearn Snr, Shelly Finkle, Al Haymon, take your pick. Everyone dropped the ball on this fight, there isn't one single person to blame, in this case they all are.
