Alright, boxing buddies, i watched this video the other day and i've been mulling over a fun 'what if' scenario and need your thoughts. Imagine Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney squaring off at heavyweight. We all know their fight at super middleweight was a spectacle, but how about in the heavyweight class? Personally, I'm leaning a bit towards Roy Jones Jr.

My reasoning? I think Jones Jr.'s speed and agility, even at a heavier weight, might give him an edge. But, I can't shake off Toney's resilience and power, which could be game-changers in the heavyweight scene.

What do you guys think? Would Jones Jr.'s speed trump Toney's power and toughness at heavyweight? Or would Toney's style adapt better to the extra pounds? Let's hash this out – I'm eager to hear your takes!

At heavyweight, Toney knocks him out. Jones does not have he chin.

Jones would've won. Toney's late career would've gone worse if he were fighting movers and fast guys at 168/75.

Still going Jones. Speed was a problem for James late in his career. Goosen and Roach keep him away from speed guys or even boxers and matched him with sluggers and swarmers that he could counter punch.

I liked the speed and mobility that jones showed against Ruiz. I think he could pull off a decision against Toney at that weight

Essentially this. Toney often looked good at heavy because he fought big slow guys that loaded up their shots. A guy like RJJ would have been landing a lot more and at a higher pace.

Jones whoops him at any weight. Too fast and talented all day every day.

what about Jones in his late career though? He got knocked out by Tarver and Johnson. When he became older, his reflexes deteriorated and he became more stationary and his weak chin was put to evidence.

Not a bad argument since Tarver did catch Jones with counter punch. Johnson more our less grinded Jones down in that stoppage which doesn't really apply since Toney did not fight anything like Johnson who was always the aggressor. I just know Toney's camp kept him away from guys with speed. Toney had a mandatory shot at Juan Carlos Gomez that he declined. He also had an offer to fight Byrd for the IBF belt and he declined again. I just think Jones is a stylistic problem for JT. Not saying JT couldn't catch Jones with a counter right, I'm just saying it's more likely Jones stays on his bike pecking away for a boring decision.

You are the biggest James Toney nuthugger the forum has ever seen, hell, probably the biggest nuthugger of any fighter. Embarrassing really.

Jones is a different level to Toney and stylistic poison to him. All anyone has to do is simply watch what did actually happen when they met in their prime, peak even.

He thinks this because Toney beat a shot Holyfield that Toney would have a shot with super heavyweights like the Klitschkos and Lennox Lewis.

I like Jones but Jesus I knew he would never compete with the likes of those super heavyweights.
