Quirino Garcia lost his first 18 professional fights but ended up with a a record of 40-28, with notable wins over Meldrick Taylor, Simon Brown. I'm not sure what fight turned it around for him though. Johnny Nelson had a modest 31-12 record and didn't really make it as a Heavyweight, his win over Carl Thompson won him the Cruiserweight title and he never lost another fight after that.
