I don't believe that Benavidez is a weight bully.

I guess people have different definitions of what constitutes a weight bully

This is the absolute worst kind

The one who is easily a natural 147 pounder who boils down to beat up on blown up 126, 130 and 135 pounders

Who looks like a sunken-eyed skeleton on crack on the scales and then blows all the way up 20-24lbs by fight night and holds huge physical advantages over their opponents

Benavidez is more the type who is very big for the weight, who campaigns in a division below his natural one, rehdrates a lot but generally but not as much as that, and doesn't look near that ill on the scales

Before his fight with Dirrell, his 30 day weigh in was 183.5, well below the 10% 30 day weight limit. I don't believe his walkaround weight is that much higher.

Against Lemieux, he officially weighed in at 166.4, 1.4 lbs below the weight limit. A weight bully would not be able to do that.

Weight bullies lose weight by drying out and dehydrating themselves. This may have been the case with Benavidez earlier in his career, but certainly not now.

Benevidez had a problem with weight when he was younger, but not for the reasons people are thinking.

Benevidez was a fat kid. When he was a 5'5" teen, he was 250 lbs. He was a blob as a kid.

As a professional, I really believe that his fighting weight is 168. He looks tall and lean. He doesn't look drained and he can comfortably make weight these days.

He and Andrade appeared to be about the same size, but the biased commentator went on and on about some imaginary size difference. There was an obvious size difference between Charlo and his opponent, but the commentator never mentioned it.

Someone like Stevenson at 130 and Haney at 135, or Jermell Charlo at 154, are real weight bullies. There was a huge size difference in Lomachenko and Haney.

The weight distribution is clearly different between the 2 fighters. Andrade looks like he's got broader shoulders and bigger arms, but a smaller waist. The real big difference is the height, which makes Benavidez look bigger, despite having a smaller upper body.

Andrade's got a more traditional body type while Benavidez has that tall dad body. Benavidez doesn't look drained at all at the weigh in.

We can't always judge size by height since Fundora is 6'6", but he's skinny. And Tyson is 5'10", but he's clearly bigger than the 6'1" Benavidez.

Idk, I think I'm relatively skinny. I'm not a twig but I feel I'm pretty trim. Dont have much extra fat on me and Im not very muscular. Pretty much just an average joe, so idk lol. Im not a twig, but relatively speaking I think Im fairly trim/skinny.

Its kinda insane to me that boxing dosnt keep track of official fight night weights. At one point that was considered a fairly relevant metric and would often get shown on the broadcast. Stupid they got rid of keeping track of those.

Theres a reason his team are talking about moving up. David frame clearly large for 168.

I never really understood the constant complaining around here about so-called "weight bullies". Especially in recent years.

If you make weight, you make weight.

Hate the game, not the player.

If you make weight without diuretics and dont use catch weights you aint really a weight bully.

Weight grifting. Exploiting the 24 hour hydration loophole. Same day weigh ins would significantly alter the landscape of boxing. Benavidez for example would be fighting at least as a LHW.. but these days with the aid of clever nutrition & diuretics they are able to pick & choose their division to maximise their assets. Some exploit it to ridiculous lengths, others have integrity & an aversion to certain substances & methods. I'll leave that up to you to separate who does what.. to me the grifters are easy to spot.. Crawford ..
