That just shows how good Manny was that he could perform like that post peak. Hatton/Cotto was prime Pacquiao
Floyd arguably best defensive fighter ever and a phenomenal counter puncher. Nonetheless, he wasnt the fighter his hardcore fans make him out to be. SRL and SRR were just better. There is almost no chance Floyd beats either of those guys. That's not a knock on Floyd but its just reality. There's dozens of fighters that outright beat Floyd but NOBODY beats EVERYBODY. Even SRL and SRR take losses. Even Ali takes losses. Its just the reality.
Absolutely not. Floyd is a great, but he's not TBE. His LW defences after Castillo were very questionable. His 140 reign was forgettable. He beat Baldomir and Judah, but never faced Margarito or Williams. DLH, great victory but clearly past prime. Hatton, great victory. Marquez, victory aged well but a bit meh Mosley, clearly past prime and inactive Ortiz, did not age well Cotto, great victory but clearly past prime Guerrero, bit meh Alvarez, great victory Maidana, bit meh Pacquiao, great victory but clearly past prime Berto, bit meh McGregor, bit meh. He had the opportunity to fight the best at WW and he didn't take.it
Marquez fight was also at a catchweight of 144lbs which Floyd did not even respect and came in above weight. Admittedly he was coming back after a layoff and looked dominant, but Marquez was still fighting at 140lbs at the time IIRC.
-- Sarcasm on Floyd is definitely TBE boxer. No doubt. And Olu is the TBE boxing forum poster -- Sarcasm off
He wasn’t at his peak. His peak was in the mid to late 00’s. He’d also been knocked cold by JMM, and he was injured going into the fight with Floyd. That mixed in with Floyd’s IV and the fight being about 5 years too late, it was a terrible letdown.
He was ok But what will he be remembered for? Defensive mastery - yes Making money - Yes The heavy A-side Las Vegas wrapped in cotton wool - Yes Big balls - No Fun fights - No (pretty boy was good to watch though)
What would we think of Ali if he didn't beat Foreman? What we would think of Duran if he didn't beat Leonard. What great fighter in their prime did Mayweather beat?
He isn't. He fought the most world champions because he fought in an era with the most champions. That stat is worthless in comparison to fighters prior to 2000, let alone prior to 1960. I don't see what relevance the amount of money he has made makes, but even then, did he still make the most money after inflation? If he did, is that not simply due to the era he fought in? The most accurate fighter statistically is a little misleading, given most of the other candidates for that title don't even have a third of their career filmed, and the fights they do have filmed, at either near their end or against their highest rated opponents. Would Mayweather still be the most accurate fighter statistically if all we saw were four rounds from his career prior to welterweight, and the De La Hoya, Pacquiao and Maidana fights?
Marquez beat him when it mattered more. Floyd waited it out while fans like yourself kissed his ring and allowed him to not fight Pacquiao. Be like only Leonard Duran 3 happening
ROFLMAO If Floyd is TBE Then I'm the next Pope & I'm not even catholic. Come clean Olu tell us who you really are youre Leonard Ellerbe's Alt aincha ? !!! He hasn't FOUGHT!! in years He couldn't FIGHT he just ran , danced & then grabbed on like a limpet. The biggest con job EVER!!!in boxing . Only adoring fangirls think the way you do. The biggest Duck in boxing history was when Mayweather "retired" because the fans were calling for that fight & he knew if he took it he'd get Demolished by The Tijuana Tornado !!!!!!
