It’s not a myth. Was Shane Mosley the A side in the De La Hoya rematch? No. Was anyone ever the a side against Oscar? Never. Didn’t matter if he had a belt or not. He was the main attraction. A side has nothing to do with who is the champion or who won before or lost. It’s simply a matter of who is putting booties in the seats? Garcia showed his pull in the Tank fight. Tank was always below 300. He fights Garcia and suddenly gets a massive increase. It’s simple math.

 

Why are you arguing on the side of financial pull?

Garcia sent Teo an offer and it got rejected. Teo is the champion, he dictates terms not Garcia.

 

Lmao. You really think Shane Mosley was the a side in the DLH rematch? Cut it out. Lopez couldn’t even get his fight in the arena at MSG. His fight was in the small room.

 

Again why do you care about how much money someone brings to the table? We're fight fans not finance fans.

If Garcia was the A side Lopez would have taken the fight instead of laughing it off.

Like I said, maybe he'll convince another title holder he's really the A side despite his loss.

Baffles me that a grown man is arguing that being insta famous is more relevant than being a world champion. What world do we live in.

 

Feels like you are missing the point. No one is really caring about money. But even you know the money man in a fight can make more demands than the champ he's facing. It's not right, but it's always been like that.

You think when Liam Smith defending his WBO belt to canelo, who was beltless, HE was in control? Nope. The money man is 9 out of 10 times.

Garcia and his made up a side status counted for nothing.

If he wants that title shot Teo is having at least 50% of the purse.

 

If he can get that, more power to him. He should use his title to negotiate more $$. Would be smart. Especially since he doesn't need Ryan G

Canelo was a superstar and beating him made you the best in the world, so people wanted to fight him for more than just money.

Garcia is miles away from that status, Teo doesn't need him. The a side is only the a side if both fighters agree they are.

Wlad should have been the A side against Haye, in theory, but Haye had none of it. He knew Wlad wanted the fight and that meant more than anything else and he held out until he got 50/50.

Fans on this forum are too obsessed with a side b side ****.

 

I don’t give a crap about who makes what. I’ve always said I’m a fan of the competition. But that doesn’t mean I’m blind to reality like you are. None of these guys are a side vs Garcia. He’s the draw with or without a belt. And don’t be child and put words in my mouth. I never said being instafamous was more relevant. I said boxing works on who puts butts in the seats. Lopez had a lineal title fight and it was in the small room at the Garden. Draws dont do the small room at the Garden. They do the arena, especially for a title fight like that. Again, I can see the sport for what it is in regards to the money, but that doesn’t mean I agree with or like it. It’s just acknowledgment.

 

Then acknowledge that Teo turned the fight down. Garcia's insta followers counted for nothing.

I'd be amazed if Teo took less than 50% against a guy who's never been champ, coming off a KO loss and hasn't got any resume or achievements to take note of.

 

Why would I not acknowledge Teo turning it down? I would too. I’d counter by getting more.

 

So then stop cheerleading a guy who's got a few insta followers.

Garcia won't get more than Teo for this fight. Therefore his so called status as an a side means nothing as he won't be able to use it. So if he can't use an a side status he isn't really an a side.
