No. I've scored it three times I think and always thought a draw was a good result (don't have a written down scorecard, just going from memory).
The 1st fight was a draw and I think it was close enough that a draw wasn't that bad of a result. The scorecard of 118-110 was ridiculous but I can see it being scored a draw although I can't see a win for Canelo. As I said I scored it 7-5 to Golovkin and he was unlucky not to get the nod, but I don't think a draw is totally unreasonable. The others fights i had no problem with Canelo winning i thought fights 2 and 3 were both scored fairly. It should be noted that Golovkin also won a very close decision over Derevyanchenko that some thought he lost, and the fight vs Jacobs was pretty close aswell.
I also had it 7-5 for GGG, but I can see both an 8-4 and 6-6 (relatively unlinkely). The biggest hyperbole about this fight were the 9-3/10-2 scorecards for GGG that fans were posting, likely in retaliation of the decision. It was a close fight from all angles.
Yeah theres no defending that awful scorecard and I can understand why people were annoyed over it. Canelo has had some of the worst scorecards in recent memory of any fighter, the Lara fight comes to mind 117-111. And all 3 judges thinking Bivol needed to win the 12th vs Canelo was pretty ridiculous aswell.
It was more about if you thought GGG won then that shouldn't have detracted from whether you think he should be rated ahead of Joe. It's not his fault two judges fixed their cards. I think it's a clear robbery. Even if someone had it 7-5, there's no way Canelo won 6 of them. Good point that.
I very much preferred watching GGG fight. Which makes it all the more painful to give the (slight) nod to Calzaghe on this one.
I would say Calzaghe ranks a bit higher but not by much. The thing is GGG did not got the decisions over Canelo which he deserved. Calzaghe was lucky enough to win a close encounter with Hopkins.
Not an easy choice here at all. Love GGG but maybe give Calzaghe the nod. Mind you in destructive form GGG was something eh. Top guys only started facing him when he was slowing down a bit. Probably Brook fight where he 1st showed signs of being human.
