Regardless of weight class it is a matchup of styles and Toney gets beat 9/10 times

Toney had the better actual run at heavyweight, but I still think it's 50/50. Obviously we're talking about Toney (Holyfield fight) vs Jones (Ruiz fight)

That guy's videos are nauseating. Pretentious bs narration and shitty low quality footage in the wrong aspect ratio.

And the best that Toney can ever hope for against Jones at any weight is to win maybe 2 clear rounds.

    Jones UD

At any weight Jones was just too fast of hand and foot for Toney.

James Toney, for sure. One of the most natural boxers. He was a phenom. Even fat Toney was freakin' awesome.

That was after the Ruiz fight where Jones looked physically fine.

Judging on how he looked at HW against Ruiz and how he dominated Toney at 168, I don't see Jones losing to Toney at HW. He's not just going to stand in front of Toney or let Toney counter off the ropes.

Yes, if Jones went up to HW and fought Toney in say 2005 after the Tarver and Johnson KO losses, Toney would beat Jones.

But the pre jaded 2003 version who easily beat Ruiz - I doubt it.

If those two guys had met at heavyweight, you know Jones would have trained hard and prepared well. With James Toney, all you knew for sure was that Toney would be a heavyweight for that fight. I would pick Jones.

the best versions at the weight jones easy.

close to prime toney never got juiced for 1 hw fight, older toney was a hw.

both in their late 30's when they were really that weight, i'd take toney.

At each of their bests (pre-Tarver Jones), Roy at any weight class. He was on another level, even to Toney.

At heavyweight, Roy was more stationary and throwing mostly single shots. From 160-175, I feel Jones beats Toney (even prepared Toney). At 190 and heavyweight, the matchup becomes more even in my opinion. The Jones chin is an issue as I feel Toney would test it.

He took Ruiz punch which was average and still won. Roy doesn't have nearly the glass jaw you make to have. Also he took shots in the first fight from pretty good and still won.

Ruiz was barely able to hit Jones. Certainly not flush. The first fight was at 168 and Toney was weigh drained, his punches had no snap and power.
