This gets a bit muddled...some of these guys like Tua and Wilder just aren't great boxers imo and only have one way to win. Holyfield when he was younger was easily sucked into a brawl with guys he could have outboxed. He had the chin and power to win most of those fights regardless but he didn't make it easy on himself.
I don’t want to sound like a dunce but did Hopkins have ring IQ when he got sent out to the floor via Joe Smith Jr? Ring IQ is overrated.
Amir Khan would be my choice. I never saw him making any type of adjustment. He subsequently got knocked out many times for it. Even Wilder in the first Stiverne fight and the Arreola fight when he hurt himself used his jab more instead of just spamming right hands. He also boxed Fury well in the beginning of the third fight. Wilder's problem I think is he lacks focus more than ring IQ. Some of the other examples are very bad IMO. Pacquaio slowed way down later in his career, he won fights more off of guile than his physical talent (see the trilogy with Timothy Bradley). Mike Tyson early in his career made plenty of adjustments, go see his fight with Larry Holmes if you don't believe me.
Rather than simply lacking Ring IQ, I think Zab just couldn't stand the pressure of high profile fights.
Arreola was already badly hurt when Wilder suffered his bicep injury and was forced to "box" him. Arreola was not going to be any great threat at that point, so this was a very modest accomplishment. Yes, Wilder did the right things in Rd 1 of his 3rd fight against Fury. And as soon as Fury had success against him in the 2nd round - Wilder abandoned all of that and went on a wild head-hunting expedition. Pretty much the definition of a poor Ring IQ right there, I'm afraid.
Tommy Morrison. The only smart fight he ever fought was against Foreman but that was as much out of fear than having good IQ I think. Most of the time he went in swinging for the bleachers hoping that he’d get away with it.
Foreman? Oh dear, that’s a terrible call. He was dumb against Ali but had outstanding ring intelligence in his comeback. His set up to get rid of Moorer was genius and he fought very smart against virtually everyone in that second coming despite his limited speed.
