This is nothing to do with the burger franchise. Six months after Foreman had lost his titles to Ali, he agreed to face five opponents on the same night in bouts of three rounds. Some of these opponents were halfway decent - Daniels had challenged Frazier for the world title. Johnson was a sparring partner for Ali. Polite was a sparring partner for Frazier. Kirkman was probably the best, and he was the fifth opponent.

Foreman was hoping to stop all the accusations that he lacked stamina, and to try and resurrect his reputation as a heavyweight destroyer. Things didn't quite go as planned. If you want to watch this event online, it's on my channel here:

I’ve read of guys using fresh sparring partners in rotation - maybe he was familiar with this? This was a cool event, I remember thinking he was Ares when I saw this as a kid.

I know the OP tried to steer this in a different direction, but I believe Big George could KO these all in one sitting:

    Five Guys

    Wendy’s

    Burger King

    Shake Shack

    In-N-Out

And he would polish off a bucket of KFC as dessert.

Good, because if George Foreman entered a 5 guys restaurant on an empty stomach, every employee would have severe levels of PTSD similar to that of a war veteran.

Gee, Ali went hard from ringside. It seems Ali always ramped it up that much more in respect of opponents who presented the greatest threat.

The fact that Frazier copped it the worst in terms of outright abuse speaks for itself in that regard.

It’s too bad Ali didn’t rematch George - it wasn’t as if Ali wasn’t into rematches, notwithstanding context.

Great win over Foreman in Zaire but it was still no picnic or walk in the park - very finely balanced in terms of strategy and execution - significantly complemented by Foreman playing his “role” to the hilt - a “role” not likely to be repeated in a return match.

How much of this lack of rematch was down to Foreman finding God and retiring before the fight could be arranged? Their fight was very far from a walk in the park, and I suspect it contributed to Ali's health problems later in life.
