Assuming he beats Usyk decisively, does Fury need to rematch Ngannou before he retires?

Ngannou never deserved a shot at Fury in the first place but definitely deserves a rematch after the performance he put on. He will need to win a few fights between then though.

Why are you loading the question w/ decisively? Isn't Usyk good, even at HW defeating AJ 2X? If Fury beats Usyk without major controversy (b/c there's often some controversy) I do not think he needs to rematch FN. Fury had an off night and likely took FN lightly.

Now if Francis defeats a few top HWs it might be tempting for Fury to rematch. First, let's see what FN can do.

Obviously, considering he all but killed boxing with the disastrous Ngannou farce. However, I doubt he will because he'd lose officially in a rematch, which would be the nail in boxing's coffin.

    Either way, RIP boxing .

I think that even if Usyk wins Fury should rematch Ngannou.

Considering he 'only' got KD'd once and didn't train properly or take the opponent seriously, it suggests he'd likely win far easier in a rematch. The MMA fighter has knocked out everyone he's landed on basically, so that was his best chance.
I think for a big paycheck Fury will rematch him.
The MMA fighter will always have a puncher's chance, but a focused Fury likely wins comfortably on points, maybe hurts him and gets an attrition stoppage.

I think he does. It’s bad. This isn’t Lennox not rematching Vitali. This is a guy with 0 pro fights - dropping the champ and in the minds of most it’s 50/50 on who actually won. It’s a bad stain. This guy never boxed before

Ngannou's WBC ranking seems to set this up. Usyk injury might bring this on??

    Nah **** that

    Usyk then AJ.

Usyk would go Fury then Wilder

Either of those scenarios sees a truly great HW retire unbeaten.

Although if Usyk beat Fury and then somehow lost to Wilder Dubblechin would be absolutely insufferable, I'd probably have to leave the forum.

After arguably the most embarrassing performance ever from a reigning heavyweight champion, Fury owes Ngannou a rematch at the minimum regardless of the Usyk fight.

Fury is finished with boxing his arms are shot to pieces. He can no longer stick and move.

He will walk Usyk down and suffocate him to death

    Then retire

Both Fury and Usyk are sort capped legacy-wise. Both are too old to rack up enough wins to improve their standing beyond becoming Undisputed.
Becoming the first Undisptued Champion in over 20 years is a big accomplishment. That will be the main thing we remember when looking back on their careers. Beating another challenger or two won't raise either of them in the ATG rankings.

As a fan, I'd love to see the winner fight Zhang, AJ, or Wilder, etc...but it's not like one or two of those wins will jump them up from Riddick Bowe level to Ali level in historical terms. These guys are near 40, and there's always going to be one more guy out there. It will be nice if they go out on their back. That way the next era has a clear champ. (It's also completely understandable if they want to hang them up at their ages)
