Can he really be that successful? Bill and Devin are talking about moving up, I'm not sure he can beat the top dogs at 47, but I'd like to see him try it. But handle things at 140 first, there's big fights to be made at 140 right now.
I like Haney. I knew he was going to beat Prograis bad. That being said he didn’t finish Prograis and I think the possibility was there. That is a little weakness in his game. I don’t know how well that’s going to work out against elite skilled punchers. Prograis can punch but he always has problems against guys with a good jab. And Haney got one of the best jabs around at the moment.
Top 10 for Haney's title. 1. Sandor Martin 2. Richardson Hitchins 3. Gary Antuanne Russell 4. Jack Catterall 5. Jose Ramirez 6. Arnold Barboza 7. Ryan Garcia 8. Steve Claggett 9. Lindolfo Delgado 10. Jose Pedraza
Haney needs to take his time, grow through the weight divisions and gain experience, no need to rush he has a long career ahead of him and it can come to abrupt end if he starts chasing Crawford, Spence and Ennis at this point in his career.
What top dogs? Bud aside, as he’s moving up, there’s no one in the division with a marquee win Ennis resume is complete trash, he might actually get whooped if and when he leaves the PBC protection programs
Ennis, Stan, Thurman, Crawford, Santillan, all guys who are much bigger and could potentially beat Haney. Haney against Santillan would be a hell of a fight if he chose to test the waters at 147.
I agree that Haney should stay at 140lb for now and let himself grow into the weight classes. It is the safe and smart way to do it. That being said, Haney is definitely refining his skills as his experience grows. Whenever he does go to 147lb, I am starting to believe he could shock us by out boxing Ennis or whoever the top dog will be in at that time.
I don’t see why he got to build his legacy by moving up to 147. The Lopez fight is right there at 140. That is one of THE fights to make. And if he does do that he might just as well go for undisputed at 140. Then maybe he can fight Tank and a Stevenson as well. Haney let it slip when he said undisputed at 140. I think it’s on his mind. Damn Hearn man all over Haney. He totally signed Prograis for just this purpose, to feed him to Haney.
He has several good fights at 140 left including Teofimo & Subriel Matias (who called him a chicken) & a money fight against Ryan Garcia The higher up in weight you go the more important power becomes & Haney has none
What does he walk around at? His upper frame looks big but his legs look quite small. There may be a limit to his max.
