There has never been a better time for Parker to upset Wilder

Parker likely would have beaten Joyce he had thrown more. Couldn't miss when he actually decided to fight back. It's hard to have any faith in Parker at this point. He's always been capable of much more than what he's shown in the ring, but it's hard to have faith in him at this stage.

Will a 31-year-old, active (fourth fight this year) Parker beat the 38-year-old, inactive, "worst" version of Wilder?

Yes - he was far too passive against Joyce and that would 100% sink him against Wilder.

Rarely is it decided on debut. Many fighters debut in a division above what they campaign at when fighting for titles. It's hard to cut weight when you're fighting every 2 weeks like many guys do when they debut.

 

Despite his inactivity, I think Scott would have improved Wilder and I think he may be even more dangerous now. I have seen significant improvements in his game from the first Ortiz fight. Parker may be the more active guy but I simply don’t think he has enough aggression to beat Wilder.

Deontay has fought Fury who is several levels above Parker and imo the Ortiz from the first fight was also better and far more dangerous.

 

Parkers Team also got it wrong bringing Parker in far too heavy v Joyce

 

He lost against Fury twice, was gifted a draw, and it's debatable whether or not Ortiz was better because he never really fought anyone of note except losing to Wilder.

Fact remains is that Wilder is still largely untested, which is why this fight is so interesting.
