Terrific Tuesday Tussle-Joe Bugner Versus Gerry Cooney

Joe definitely had the ability to beat Gerry - good chin,fast hands when he let them go properly,serviceable jab and stiff right cross. Providing he fought to the best of his capability such as in the Joe Frazier bout and the first one with Muhammad Ali,then he wins by pretty clear decision. But if he's not really up for it then Cooney outworks Bugner over the distance.

 

I think Joe would be delighted to lose a UD to Gerry.

 

Good post, I'm kinda torn here, My first thought was Cooney but if Gerry doesn't get him outta there early, and I believe he wouldn't then if this is a 12 round fight Cooney could be in some trouble later on if it goes the distance. In my opinion Cooney fought with a lot of heart against Holmes but was just out classed , the thing that bothers me about Cooney in this fight was the right hand that Holmes dropped Cooney with in round 5. It wasn't exactly a bomb and Gerry spiraled in like a wounded sparrow. Bugner's better chin just might enable him to win this fight,,,,,,maybe.
