The best British boxer to never win a world title?

    There are a few candidates - Tommy Farr, Joe Bugner, Herol Graham, Tony Sibson, Martin Murray (if you don't count his interim title) and Micky Cantwell - are the ones that spring to my mind. Who do you think was the best not to make it to the top?

    For me it's Herol. So close against Jackson Ahhhhh.

    too many really and we should also subtract from 'world' title lists, the alphabet titles, but genuine Contenders & Title Challengers, there are plenty really .

    the Best? Well that is always hard to conclude, but I would say, Harvey, McAvoy and Roderick just to name a few, but they were by no means alone and likewise as suggested above, many of these contenders are better than many a champion...

    but such is Business, I mean Boxing.

    I agree most definitely,Fergy. And just a little more workrate would have seen him through to victory in his WBA title bout against Mike McCallum.

    I agree with a large percentage of people that say nah with respect to Graham, the man had 3 Chances and was still not able to win a title, but a good fighter he was, good that is, 'if' you like the Pawing ****** style, not for me G I Joe.

    but yes he will be included in such dialogue.

    It was a close fight the McCallum one, Stevie.
    Could have gone either way imo.
    The Jackson ko was crushing, he was probably minutes away from winning that.

    Yes,Fergy,not only was Herol winning handily but Jackson was taking so much punishment that his corner were on the verge of pulling their man out. What a turnaround!
