In a recent interview, Deontay Wilder said the "Frenchman", as he couldn't remember his name, referring to Johann Duhaupas, the pastry chef from a small town in northern France, was the hardest puncher he ever faced. You heard it folks.... Duhaupas is a harder puncher than Fury, Stiverne, Ortiz, etc.. Facially, Wilder was a wreck after his run in with the Frog, I will agree
Duhaupas took a pasting from Wilder and kept walking him down Didn't have the stamina or wrestling ability of Fury though.
Nah... Boxers often talking about punching power thinking more about pain in the fight not actual power of one shot. Duhaupas land some shots, make Wilder eye swell soo maybe it was painfull. But for sure Ortiz who make him wobbled hard and they must give him extra time to survive or Fury who destroy him twice and wobbled him pretty easy punching harder. For example Wilder is one of the greatest puncher in history and yet still Artur Szpilka told in interview that he dont punch soo hard and Mike Mollo punch was harder (and we know how he end in Wilder fight). Fury also said twice that Wladimir Klitschko punching harder than Wilder and he said ppl will not understand that. Mariusz Wach who go for sparring to probably all dudes in 15 years and fighting and get massive beating from Klitschko in fight said in interview that hardest puncher was Carlos Takam. It looks like what boxer feel in some sparring/fight its other what we can see. There is not many of us who will be said that Vitali got better punching power than Wlad but few opponents said that older brother hit harder... Even Arreola talking that Vitali punching harder/more painfull than Wilder. There is difference beetwen what we see and what they feel in the moment of fight.
Well, yeah. He thinks he had brass knuckles on and had no padding in his gloves and a million other conspiracies
The greatest moment of Wilder's career was when he burnt a Godzilla figure under instruction from his grandmother in preparation to take on the dangerous reptilian Duhuapas. This fight showed many of Wilder's technical weaknesses (some of which have improved substantially) and Duhuapas has never been more than a domestic level guy. AJ would have sparked him and Fury would have made him quit with little difficulty.
Boxers never know who the hardest puncher they ever fought was. It's literally impossible for them to judge. It's on us as outside observers to determine that.
Szpilka was also unconscious for several minutes, left the ring on a stretcher, was monitored for blood clots in the brain and was never the same again after fighting Wilder. And Fury said he thought Wilder gave him brain damage after their third fight, which, given how he's acted, isn't a stretch.
This makes no sense from Wilder, if he was being consistent he would have said Fury given he believes the man had no padding in his gloves, used egg weights, and had knuckle dusters on when they fought. Even Deontay doesn't believe his own lies.
No disrespect, I think I'll take the word of the guy who actually took the shots over some dude pounding a keyboard. I doubt you can speak to Duhpaus's power better than Wilder.
