    Fair play, great achievement.

“That’s incredible. You never think of when you lace the gloves on at 10 years old that you’ll end up in the Hall of Fame with some of the great fighters already there. I’m a bit speechless. There’s no greater honor. I’m delighted.” - Ricky Hatton

Ricky who always claimed its mot about the money
    Who then quickly became urm
    All about the money
He claimed it crass when floyd did it to him
He then did it to other fighters
    Horrible little man

The Hall of Fame criteria is gradually and increasingly dipping below the elite standards set by the greats.

With the declining trajectory of standards, many non elite British fighters who picked up soft World Titles must have a shout in the future including Tel Harper, Terry Flanagan, Anthony $2 Crolla, Anthony Joshua and Shannon Courtenay.

At least when Bus Stop gets admitted they can all pile round for a chippy after.

The thing I don't get is why the Hall of Fame needs to be constantly topped up like this - if people qualify then they qualify on retirement, not 10 years later.

Just looked at the line-up; Jane Couch? Michael Moorer?

It's clearly turning into "let's find 10 people we can tell stories about, once a year".

It must have been the 16 defences of his World Boxing Union super lightweight title.

Will always love the memories and the buzz of Hatton. I’d read books, been to gyms, had a dad who boxed and was into it but Hatton and Calzaghe cemented my interest in the sport growing up

Discussions of whether he should - or shouldn't - be in the HOF aside (and whether standards are slipping), ... he is in. Simple as that. And I'm happy for him.
Sure he had his limits, but he was a very good fighter and did an awful lot for the popularity of boxing in the UK. He beat some good names - and went to America for some of it. I think Hatton tends to get a hard time because he lost his two biggest fights - and the way he was defeated. But he lost to two all time greats, in their primes. No shame in that. And he also had the balls to take those fights at dangerous moments. He deserves a lot of credit for that. Not enough fighters do.

    Good post.

Hatton is occasionally annoying, and tends to repeat himself, but unlike a lot of today's fighters, he dared to be great, losing to a near prime Mayweather, and a rampaging Pacquiao are not something to be ashamed of, and besides, after taking thousands of fans abroad, and (for a time) being the best 140lber on the planet (even though he didn't face his WBC counterpart) he must be just as worthy as some others?

Plus isn't it called the Hall of Fame?
