After all the gob Hearn gave and it’s not happening, he’s on a shocking run. Agree it’s good news that the drug cheat didn’t get this payday, but he still shouldn’t be boxing period.
That is about the extent of it. I think Brook was always their reluctant plan B. Hearn was desperate to get Eubank because it was the only fight that might have made him some money. Glad it has fallen over. The cheats didn't prosper.
This content is protected 16:35 onwards probably confirms all is not well with him and Hearn. Claims to have no idea there was an international approach for the Eubank fight. As usual, one or both of them are lying...
Benn's whole career is a lie. A lie that he's "born to fight" like Matchroom always make out - he's as manufactured as a 90s boy band; a lie that he's world class despite fighting absolutely nobody; a lie that he's some undefeated monster when Peynaud could easily claim a win; a lie that he "wants to be the man with the belt" after spending nearly 2 years chasing Eubank Jr for the cash. And that's before we get to the PED tests. It will be a good day when he's out of boxing and forget the career happened.
I guess in the sense of he may not have said anything to him directly if it was only an enquiry but to say he has no idea what he's on about and to give it a bit of a quick shutdown seemed a bit off to me. However, I've been known many a time to add 2 to 2 and find my way to 7!
How satisfying that all this, after all this time, has ended in this situation. Couldn't happen to nicer people. Even without taking the "alleged" PEDs into account, the fact that a much bigger boxer was dragged down two weights, then financially hamstrung into a rehydration clause really sickens me the most. Especially as both of their respective fathers were involved in fights that ended in brain injured opponents.
Benn commenting after the Eubank fight is abandoned : “Will the fight happen in the future? Definitely not. I won’t wait around for it.” If it is back on the table in future he will jump at it.
Tickles me how the deluded ****er rattles off all the top names as potential opponents. Why the **** would any top fighter fight Benn? He's average at best. And he comes across as such an arrogant unlikable guy in his interviews. How can anyone say he's a 'nice kid'?
Think Eubank has handled this brilliantly. Made Benn be desperate to fight him and hang on and then basically fcked him over (if it wasn’t for UKAD)
Hearn and Benn tried desperately to make it look like Eubank was being too greedy but the fact that the BBBofC didn't want to dirty their hands with this fight appears to be the real reason it isn't happening. In a recent rant, Hearn was threatening to sue the BBBofC but I suspect Robert Smith is having a good chuckle about that and has already filed it away under 'Hearn B.S.'
Put this **** in with ortiz Spence or Ennis hell even charlo the smaller one And shut the runty **** up
My opinion on all of this. I think this has had on numerous occasions with Matchroom fighters. Previously they've never been made public so the Board in one way or another have been silenced, presumably by the threat of legal battles they physically cannot afford. This time, due to most likely Eubank Snr, it becoming public knowledge it's allowed the Board to actually take a bit of a stand. The Board have their faults but I don't think their comfortable with PED fails fighting under their rules. They've actually battled this properly because of the news becoming public has given them the pass. In that respect it could be that Benn is a bit unlucky but I would love to know how many times this has happened in the past. Remember the Whyte Rivas saga, Eddie nearly got that completely hidden. Strange we haven't seen so many of Connor's stablemates for ages as well.
