No one has acted more scared of legitimate opponents than Floyd & Canelo. Floyd went ballistic at the sight of Antonio Margarito standing in front of him & his goons had wandered off & he was alone. Ive no doubt you've seen the videos Floyd was terrified Canelo handed back the WBC World Middleweight belt when ordered to defend it against GGG. He meekly handed it back because he was afraid to fight GGG. Canelo claimed he wasn't a middleweight ROFL
Benavidea is the best guy Canelo can face at 168 right now. The only way people would sour on that if he did win, was if it were another suspect scorecard. Some people might mention Morrell, but he's had 5 fights.
My favorite one after the Bivol fight where Canelo fans said Usyk was next is, “Canelo is too small for 175”. Even after he beat Kovalev.
So? He had done the right thing. If he had fought and lost to GGG, he wouldn't be so rich and famous. He beat Kovalev, and then cleaned super middleweight division, and now he is a multi millionaire. This is business. You can't act stupid and accept every fighter's challenge, instead of making more precious fights. Nobody knows Benavidez, and fighting Benavidez won't make as much money as fighting someone like Bivol or Charlo.
They fight at the same weight at the moment and the fight is by far the biggest at that weight. Why do you not want to see the best fight the best?
Oh how many times have we heard the lyrics to this old song sang and lamented by the tormented and disilusioned Canelo fans consisting of the sect who comfort they seek by lashing out against his accomplishments and repeating the same lyrics over and over again, only to change a single word to their beloved anthem, the name of the opponent. "Canelo will never fight_________" That song has been played out since the end of the 2010's. It's the 2020's and another song ye know not. Canelo will fight Benavidez, and when he does, he will be given proper credit by boxing aficionados, but his most loyal fan base the haters, will find a reason to discredit him, and just like the other times, there anger and protests will mean nothing, and history will continue to be very kind and loving towards the Mexican.
David's doing the right thing, instead of whining about not fighting Canelo, he's making himself inevitable He just needs to keep beating name after name and the boxing community will force Canelo to face him. Plant coming off the prolific Dirrell KO and an undefeated Boo Boo. Say what you want about those guys, say what you want about David's size, at least he's being active against comparative talent Canelo fights twice a year. He can get away with a somewhat competitive no-name fight, like Ryder and JermAll/Adames/Morrell next year, but his second fight MUST be serious or at least be PERCEIVED as serious, like JermEll was. Next year Canelo will be forced to tango with either Bud, Benavidez or some light heavyweight monster There is no where left to run. The monster is coming
How will he get away with another cherry pick fight when he has had 3 in a row now? It will be 4 in a row, thats TWO years of cherry picks and ducking the top guy. He will be bashed hard for the next cherry pick trust me, there is no excuse, all this 'saving the biggest fight last' is so dumb and fabricated just for Canelo.
Clenelo is stuck between a rock and a hard place He said he's looking at hanging around until he's 37 or 38 y/o He cannot make 160 Says he's too small for 175 168 has been a graveyard division for a number of years now Clenelo, Benavidez and Morrell are the three best fighters at 168 in most people's eyes and Benavidez and Morrell are young so he can't duck them and age them out like he did GGG He doesn't want to any rematch smoke with Papi Bivol or to compensate him fairly His best hope is that Benavidez and Morrell move up to 175 soon which is a distinct possibility because they're both huge for 168. That might be exactly what he's doing He wants them to fight each other too Which viable opponents are there out for him to fight if he doesn't want any heat with the best and most dangerous guys in his own weight class or Bivol a either 168 or 175? We've heard Crawford's name been mentioned Jermallo One's a 147 pounder, the other a 160 pounder Can you imagine what Benavidez and Morrell would do to those guys? Maybe a rematch with Callum Smith if he beats a 39 y/o Beterbiev who is due to get old overnight sometime very soon If Lydon Arthur upsets Bivol I can see him offering him a pot of gold We've also heard Berlangy's name mentioned too even though he can't take a pop on the whiskers and is a binman Munguia if he gets past Juan Ryder Maybe Pachecho if he keeps winning A weak smallish CW champ perhaps? Maybe he'll deem a 39 or 40 y/o Beterbiev old enough to fight now? I think he will have no choice but to fight Benavidez if Benavidez remains undefeated and doesn't move up which he has threatened to do numerous times out of frustration at not being able to entice Clenelo into a ring It's not like it's an unwinnable fight for him and when you have the huge advantage of having the judges in your pocket and the deck heavily stacked in your favour obviously there is less reason to duck
No it isn't. It pains me to type this out, but... ...the biggest money fight for Canelo will be some sort of silly circus act where he boxes Jake Paul with the latter being given something like a 30 lb weight advantage.
