It's already been 10 years since this classic fight took place when Marcos Maidana not only humbled then previously unbeaten Adrien Broner but also humiliated him as well. As satisfying as the outcome was the fight itself was very exciting and Broner did show some toughness as well.

If Broner was not such an idiot after his stock would have rose. Took some big shots and that version of Maidana nearly beat Floyd

Yes, I picked Maidana and could not see how Broner could win. A guy with little workrate, that didn´t have the footwork and could not hurt Maidana. Most picked Broner and said it would look like Floyd vs Baldomir or something.
It was clear to me considering Broner vs de Leon, and the Paulie fight which both showed how Maidana would simply outwork and outslug Broner.

It shows you how much you can look good as long as your opposition is weak.

If I had to be stuck in a deserted island with all the necessary ingredients to survive for a year, and had to pick 1 fight until they would come to get me, it would be this one. After beating Malignaggi, Broner became the most obnoxious person in the entire sport. Maidana was a quiet and reserved guy, and Broner thought that acting liked a spastic made him look cool.

Maidana getting Broner on Bambi legs, dropping him like a sack of potatoes, Broner begging the referee to get Maidana off him in desperation, crying on the canvas like a toddler after Maidana's head barely grazed his chin and then getting humped back, all the while his condidence and soul is being beaten out of him is just *chef's kiss*. And of course, the aftermath with Broner walking back to his locker room is the icing on the cake. The planets and stars alligned that night.

This fight was awesome! Credit to Broner for showing some toughness in there. He got his ass whooped and still made it to the final bell. Maidana was just a straight beast in there.

    I had it 8-4 Maidana.

    Revisit it after 10 years??

    I revisit this almost weekly.

This and MAB vs Hamed are two of my most treasured memories of boxing. Two annoying, arrogant tossers meeting their nemesis when virtually nobody (especially themselves) thought it would happen on these nights. The smugness got literally beaten out of them. It was beautiful.

An amazing fight and story. I have no problem w smugness or confidence but Broner had no class. Dude wins the Paulie fight then publicly brags about taking his girl. That was embarasing. Broner looked like he was 12 years old there. Plus all the wannabe "hood sh1t" w his Pops brushing his hair.

Was happy he got smacked upside the head and that he did.

For what its worth that version of Maidana arguably beat Floyd and definitely deserved a draw...ofc Floyd had the judges give him extra credit...

This was a great fight and I feel beyond the humiliation and humbling which has taken main stage on memes and highlight videos, Broner showed a ton of grit and heart to fight his way back into this fight and make the final bell and win some rounds. Its a shame Broner never got back on track because on the way up he was fun to watch and was a big personality. Maidana had a solid run at that time

I called the upset for Maidana too. Never really liked Broner that much, I always thought he was a PBF wannabe, but he showed toughness that fight and he dished out as good as he got. One fight that should have had a rematch at some point IMO.

Broner never recovered from this fight.

Once his confidence disappeared so did his form.

I always thought the first couple of rounds against Gavin Rees gave some insight into what might happen when he eventually came up against someone his own size who could hurt him.

Broner lost to Quintero, Ponce De Leon and old man Paulie took him to a decision and was a massive weight bully who loved fighting literal midgets like Eloy Perez

Anyone with any boxing knowledge could see the fake shoulder roll flat footed low workrate broner was about to get bummed and he got bummed.

The amount of people who believed he was any good was mind blowing. He did show he was a tough kid though.

It's crazy because if Broner did beat Maidana they did have a plan with help from Floyd to become a PPV superstar, he was that much of a villain back then that people would see both of them in the same way and would pay PPV money to see them lose.

    Don´t believe that, he never was good enough to beat someone like Maidana or Shawn Porter. He was better than someone like Antonio DeMarco, sure. Which is okay, it´s not like he was a bad fighter, but he was being pushed as this new Mayweather;

IMO they probably knew Broner would fell short somewhere down the line. They did make money with Broner, I mean, look at this, he has no business being talked about 10 years later.
Broner was okay, good, like him there was many, yet he is talked about today.
