Regardless of the hate, Haney is an elite fighter.

I know a lot of people are still upset about the Loma vs Haney fight. I had it 7-5 Loma but if you put a gun to my head, I would say it was a draw. But based on that performance, the Regis performance, and past performance, I beleive Haney is trouble for everyone from 135 to 154. He reminds me a lot of Andre Ward:
    • Elite Jab
    • Can fight from all ranges
    • Great footwork
    • Really good defense
    • Exceptional at judging distance
Although he has the better defense than Ward, he lacks Ward's killer instinct and versatlity. He's still young and the oonly fighters I see having a chance are Matias, Ennis, Davis, and maybe Shakur. He is among the elite (Crawford, Loma, Ennis, Spence, Shakur, Davis...etc) and he should be treated as such.

I was expecting a strong Haney performance vs Regis but to make him only land 36 shots over the 12 rounds is just absurd.

It would be more impressive if he wasn't a Super middle weight. If he takes on Matias and doesn't leave on a stretcher I'll give him full marks.

    He's not a super-middleweight. He is a natural Junion WW/WW

I agree, he doesn't possess an action pleasing style but his ability to box is superb.

I'm 50/50 on Davis vs Haney I could see Haney outboxing him but Davis is an exceptional boxer with "elite" power

Based on your logic, so is Crawford, Ennis, and Spence

One thing it's abundantly clear he's elite at is cooking down to 20-25lbs below his fighting weight for the weigh-in... And then rapidly rehydrating up to full condition.

This gives him a very real size advantage over pretty much anyone he has to fight simply because most guys can't boil down quite that hard.

The question is really whether you consider this legit, in which case you must rate him highly...
Or whether you think this shouldn't be allowed and see him as a weight bully who's cheating the system - in which case you'll rate him less.

For what it's worth, I think he's clearly got some skills but the size advantage definitely helps a lot with his style - and because he's fighting smaller guys, the ability to use his superior range to such advantage makes his weaker points less of a problem (deficits in power and killer instinct, especially)

I agree but I think 154 is a bit of a stretch. 147 remains to be seen. He is definitely elite. Second to no one 140 and below.

I think everyone believes he's very good, but most people just don't believe he's as good as he's being sold. The same problem will occur for anyone being even half way seriously compared to Mayweather. Add to that, a fighter showing up 25lb over the 140 limit on fight night is going to annoy many knowledgable boxing fans, especially when they're wearing Victor Conte merch. Others will always hate Haney for his racist little rant. And still others will hate any fighter with a carefully choreographed career.

Do all the math on that and you end up with 50k PPV buys and a low p4p ranking.

Not saying he would but Haney would be the best fighter Crawford has ever faced. Especially compared to the version of Spence that Crawford fought. Like Keith said, "That Spence loses to Shawn Porter."Name a fighter Crawford faced as good as Haney I'll wait

Same thing to be said for Crawford who feed it a weight drain Spence but yet you have people on here saying he be competitive against Floyd when he has yet to fight anyone as good as the Oscar or Mosley that Floyd defeated see I don't like this BS in boxing we set standards for certain boxers but we don't hold our favorite boxes to the same standard
