Joe Louis is the greatest HW Champion in history, his reign and number of straight defenses have still never been surpassed. Put him in today with modern peds/nutrition as well as replay footage and AJ wouldn't know what hit up. Would be one of Louis's easiest fights once he finds out how one dimensional AJ is and how fast he gasses.
So why couldn't Louis take modern nutrition and adopt this new "sports science" as well in a hypothetical match up? Either AJ goes back in time and has his entire training camp in the 1940's or Louis comes to the modern day and have the same playing field as everyone else.
Louis would lose some of his mental fortitude if you put him into todays heavyweight mix and vice versa Joshua would gain a bit of a mental edge to his game if he was born in that era. Times were tougher then so imagine how good those fighters would have been if they had access to today's scientific sports knowledge.
He wouldn’t need to. His hand speed, counters, and combinations would overwhelm Joshua before he lends anything significant. Wlad’s defence consisted of keeping his distance and hugging his opponent whenever they get within punching range. Against someone his own size his defence isn’t that effective. Pretty sure midget referees to height, but you’d have no leg to stand on when it comes to weight either. Wilder is the hardest puncher in the division despite fighting in the low 210s. Tyson fury is one of the largest boxers today yet he’s not even in the top 10 hardest punchers in his generation.
Could be? AJ by first round KO. Please stop these 190 pound former guys, who never faced the ranked black fighters, vs a modern 250 pound skilled super HV.
Record number of straight defences against bums, midgets and barroom brawlers maybe. He isn't close to the greatest HW in a H2H sense, and if he was you wouldn't be needing to create a fantasy PEDed up uber-version to compete with Joshua on even terms.
If he can get past Joshua's jab maybe. That isn't a given. And Louis's defence consisted of blocking every shot coming his way with his oversized head and occasionally getting knocked down by a former LHW or wild swinging brawler. He was like Joe Joyce without the chin. Wilder isn't close to some of the tiny little manlets Louis fought in his time. In fact he'd be considered one of his bigger opponents, on par with fighters like Max Baer. He's also extremely tall so, uh, what was your argument again?
The fact that he is 250lb vs 190lb and has a similar ko ratio as Schmeling vs a much bigger class of opponent.
It's funny with this fantasy match ups and how biased people bring one fighter at his absolutely best and forget every single bad matches he have, and in the same time bring the worst version of his opponent. It's funny though that people keep bringing Andy Ruiz to put AJ down, even though AJ was comfortably winning the fight before the KD. The reality is, even people loves to hate AJ for that fight is, AJ just goes for the kill, when it wasn't there and was too open and countered with a big left hook that connect to the temple and he was concussed and that after that shot. Funny how people somehow forget that AJ beats Ruiz 12-0, and schools him. But haters of AJ don't wanna give him credits for that, and excuse it with that Ruiz was fat, etc, etc. I can say the same for AJ, as he was messing around with Ruiz 1, underestimate him, etc, etc. Still nothing erase a lose, but a lose doesn't mean a fighter is no good. It's funny how literally the H2H Goat Lewis, has 2 KO Loses to guys like Rahman and McCall, but people loves to forget this. And McCall 2 fight was a beyond joke, as Lewis never really avenge that loss, as McCall didn't wanted to be on the ring, neither Lewis beat him fair and square. McCall was forced and didn't even train for that fight. As far as this fantasy matchup, eh i can use the same energy as the biased haters of AJ: If Joe could lose via TKO to Max Schmeling AJ will murder him. Joe obviously is an ATG, and has a legendary resume, but the guys from that time have zero chance against the nowadays. It's literally different sport now. Joe is 1.87 and weighted at what 200 pounds or so. Also the guys of the past are so open, it's unreal. Zero chance. Just look at his stance and guard for god sake: This content is protected Some people on here are loosing credibility fast with me, based on their obvious bias or nostalgia.
Muhahahhahahah. Did you even see how they were fighting back then ? Their movement and their guard? Beat Holyfield or Usyk, nice jokes. Most HW will literally destroys most of the ATG of the past, cause it's literally different game. Compare their technique, guards, posture, everything. They are open as hell as well.
Louis was great at countering the left jab. He would slip or duck to the outside, and counter with the right hand. Show me a fight where Louis got hit often by a wild swinging brawler in his prime. Is Deontay wilder not light by today’s standards? Is Tyson fury not light hitting compared to his peers?
Do you know ruiz’s ko to tko ratio? What percentage of his opponents were stopped on their feet as opposed to not being able to make get off the canvas in time?
