Prime Sharkey vs. Prime Deontay, who wins? Wilder seems to be around 212-220 at his peak, and Sharkey's around 188-200 lbs.
Wilder would have knocked Sharkey and anybody Sharkey ever fought, Sharkey was only 6ft and only had a 72 inch reach.
Wilder would win this but are we going to go through everyone from Sullivan on LOL? What frustrates me is everyone acting like Wilder is an ATG. I don’t think he is.
In truth some of these matchups simply aren’t practical and I’ve commented on that in another thread. I mean can see some fantasy fights like Muhammad Ali vs Joe Louis or Marciano vs Holmes. But when I see shlt like Bob Fitzsimmons vs Lennox Lewis I seldomly click on the thread
Is it the thread in which we pretend: a) Sharkey didn't drop and decision 6ft6 Primo Carnera in their first encounter. b) Sharkey didn't fight and beat infinitely more accurate, skilled, coordinated, and thinking fighters in the likes of Schmeling, Stribling, and Loughran (KO3)? c) Sharkey didn't fight evenly against aged but still furiously dangerous Dempsey, losing on a low blow essentially. d) Sharkey did not fight in an era when inside game was still alive and relevant (Dempsey was a well respected wrestler, supposedly.) e) Being smaller is not only a disadvantage—there is quickness, nimbleness, and elusiveness that comes with it. Wilder is very much alive in the fight, given his murderous punching power, reach, and Sharkey's own tendency for inconsistent performances. I refuse to act like Jack cannot ask questions Wilder will struggle to answer though.
There was no nuclear bomb in Sharkey's time, so he wouldn't know what happened if he got hit by a nuclear right. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Meh … I prefer actual boxing to nuclear bombs … I know now it’s an old wife’s tale that didn’t happen but I thought the story of Willie Pep winning a round without throwing a punch was the coolest thing I’d ever heard in my life.
Could go either way to be honest. Sharkey would give Wilder a boxing lesson, but he would also need to stay away from that right hand.
No. Wilder losing a decision at 38 years old and after having only fought once in 26 months is no indication that he’d lose to Sharkey in a prime for prime matchup
Did you perhaps see a fight plan going on, which somebody might have invented earlier? One that a man like Sharkey, might just come up with inside a single round? assuming that he didn't have a panic attack of course.
