You can make all the excuses you want but to compare Wilder to Ali and Holmes is laughable. Those guy had way way more wars and fought in longer fights. Wilder may be past it but he’s nowhere near the state those guys were in.

Plus neither Holmes or Ali ever lost a fight 12-0. Holmes beat Mercer when he was cooked, a better win than any on Wilder’s resume. The truth is Wilder is a limited but exciting slugger who benefitted from facing journeymen in a weak era. He lost every time he stepped up. Time to face the facts, he’s not an ATG.

I always thought Wilder was a street thug, but he appears to be a nice family man. I hope he invests his money and don't end up broke like so many other former pro boxers.

Deontay was for the culture, man. These people won't get it because they never did.

Wilders style depended heavily on speed, athleticism, power, timing. At the age of 38 with two years of inactivity, these elements will mostly go and you will automatically become a much more beatable fighter. Fighters who have successfully lasted long in their late 30's, early 40's have done so because of their technique, ring IQ, boxing fundamentals all things Wilder lacks and cannot pick up so late in his career.

American HW boxing dies with Wilder

And you know what. This isn't the end of the Doentay Wilder story.

His fire has gone but the embers remain. He will rise like a phoenix some day. I promise the world that.

It’s same Deontay that we’ve seen against molina, duhaupas , ortiz , stiverne and fury . He just couldn’t hit the target as it was out of his punching range .

Gotta love this whole: "Wilder is super old so this shutout doesn't count, but he should get into HOF because he beat an even older Ortiz".

You guys don't know boxing history if you don't think that Wilder is a HOFer. Of course he's making it in.

You should be ashamed of yourself comparing a limited puncher like Wilder to ATGs like Holmes and Ali, who were some of the most skillful Heavyweights of all time. Who gave us some of the most memorable fights of all time Norton/Holmes Ali/Frazier.

Holmes and Ali beat almost 40 ranked fighters between them Wilder beat a grand total of 2!!!!! In Stirverne and an old Ortiz.

Going off boxing history, he’s not a first ballot hall of famer. Be objective here, has he achieved near the likes of Wlad, Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Ali, Louis, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, Johnson, Fitzsimmons, Jeffries, Marciano etc. I think not - I’d rank Vitali and Bowe higher as well. He’s a legendary puncher, but not an elite fighter.
