Joshua got off the canvas to knock out Klitschko, say what you want about Klitschko's age but we was not washed up in that fight. Joshua had enough heart to fight the best available opponents which isn't something wilder can claim. Yes wilder is good at taking a pummeling against a wide range of opponents not excluding bums so he does deserve some credit. But had he not been given unfair recovery time against Ortiz he would have been knocked out way before fury got to him

He’s got the heart of a lion, he moves like a middleweight, he is Deontay Wilder. Seriously though he deserves a huge deal of praise for the Fury trilogy and his impressive wins over Ortiz. I maintain he’s overrated but to call him a ‘bum’ is silly and disservice to all that he has achieved. He’s one of the finest punchers in the sport’s history.

I struggle to tell with posts like these if context is ignored through pure stupidity or bias. His title defences were absolutely awful, and shouldn't really be something that people brag about.

IMHO the greatest praise for Deontay Wilder is that he and Tyson Fury put together the greatest heavyweight trilogy since Holyfield Vs. Bowe. The way it is - the way it is; it's the biggest heavyweight trilogy in about 25 years :)

There’s no “mixed success” about it. He got knocked out by feather fisted fury and lost every round to Parker.

Wilder has always been hand raised and looked after while in a stacked HW division. His resume is pitiful considering the era he's in. Wilder was handed an easy belt and then protected, careful career managed because USA has had **** all decent heavyweights in a long time.

He management let him down. Sure Wilder has nothing left, but if they would have put him in with Wallin we would still be talking about his KO power.

Wilder’s top 10 opponents beaten: Stiverne 1, Molina, Duhaupas, Szpilka, Arreola, Washington, Ortiz 1, Breazeale, Ortiz 2, Helenius

Vitali’s top 10 opponents beaten: Hide, Bean, Donald, Sanders, Peter, Gomez, Arreola, Kevin, Adamek, Chisora

The consider that Wilder defended twice against Fury and it's not even close, Wilder's championship opposition was much stronger overall.

I don't know if he'd have beaten Wallin yesterday tbh. His performance against Parker was worse than Jack Massey's and more than slightly worse. It was a similar performance to Scott's vs Ortiz, though not quite as dire. Wilder is virtually as mentally finished with the sport as a man can possibly be.

His management did fail him but especially earlier in his career. They should have avoided Fury and bent over backyards to make the Joshua undisputed fight, accepting a lowball if need be. Losing to Joshua wouldn't have been as psychologically devastating for one, for two Wilder would have had a great chance of knocking him out. And given Joshua is slow to recover psychologically, Wilder would have been favourite retrospectively to win a rematch too and at least one of the fights. If they split results there would have been a mega lucrative trilogy. It may well be one of the biggest blunders in the history of the game.

Prior to 2018 (and especially 2015) he was protected in matchmaking, not after that. Joshua was also protected and has three prime losses and counting.

Exactly. It's the defining rivalry of the era and a classic heavyweight trilogy. Both men left a lot of themselves in the ring over those three fights.

Fury spent 12 rounds running from an old Klitschko the proceeded to duck a rematch then the steroid cheat got suspended then "retired"
