Of fights that I personally attended, Hatton-Tszyu & Trinidad-Mayorga stand out. When Tito appeared, walking to the ring, it felt like the roof would come off. I remember thinking to truly savor that moment. Hatton-Tszyu felt truly special too.
The old Olympic Auditorium had its charms: Fans not liking a decision, an outcome or a fighter’s performance were known to urinate in their empty beer cups (presumably while sitting in their seats) and throw them at the ring. Alternately, a really hard-fought action fight would see fans shower the ring with coins. They’d sweep them up, count them up and split it between the two fighters.

I had a similar experience at Trindad-Joppy. The pro-Trinidad, Puerto Rican crowd at MSG was going absolutely crazy even before the fight started. And, it got even more intense once Trinidad began battering Joppy all over the ring. One of my buddies is a major player on Wall Street and got me into one of the luxury boxes for that fight. But, the crowd in the cheap seats was having so much fun that I actually left the luxury box to be a part of the pro-Trindad pandemonium. It was ****ing incredible.
That one fight in the schoolyard where they formed a big ring jumping up and down, around the two guys fighting, shouting "barney! barney! barney!" while the girls shrieked hysterically.
Marciano v Louis wasn't even one of Louis's top 5 fights in terms of attendance. 17,000 went to see it. For a comparison, 72,000 attended the Schmeling rematch, (60,000 for the first fight). 57,000 for the Carnera fight. 84,000 for the Max Baer fight. Considering that the announcer had to calm people down and tell them to keep things civil before the fight begun, I'd say the Baer fight (and all the others mentioned) had a much crazier atmosphere than the Marciano fight. But the Marciano fight doesn't fit the other criteria either. People knew Louis was washed by then, hence the low attendance, but he was also the betting favorite, meaning that people underestimated just how good Marciano was, meaning neither of the two drew large crowds and even those who attended didn't have big expectations. The Carnera, Baer and Schmeling fights drew larger crowds and there were serious political and racial undertones at those events.
Racial unterdones are in many fights of that era even in Holmes v Cooney. But washed or less I read many papers of the time that claimed it was the fight of the century because Marciano could retire Louis, more than I read about the other fights you mention. Louis v Schmelling? Maybe... but not found considerable sources that make it think it was a superior fight than Marciano v Louis who imo was old and a little bit bruised but not for sure washed up.
