Pipino vs. Benitez would have been an instant classic!
A pity that fight never happened.

Anyway, Benitez has the clear advantage here.
Sure, Pipino was a dangerous puncher, but there is a reason Benitez was called "The Radar": in his prime, nobody is touching him.

When Pipino comes swinging and looking for a brawl he is going to face the ultimate defensive and counterpunching master. Too fast, too elusive, too skilled for Pipino to catch.
    Benitez by UD.

I’d probably favor Wilfredo here but don’t dismiss Pipino’s chances.

We’ve seen Benitez put down by Curry and stopped (perhaps prematurely) by Leonard. Pipino’s much more of a puncher than those two.

Cuevas was also a really good body puncher and would likely adjust to aim at the body (or maybe game plan to do so from the start).

In stature and, to a degree, style, Pipino probably most resembles Carlos Palomino among Wilfred’s opponents, and while Carlos fell short he wasn’t completely outclassed by Wilfredo. It was competitive. If Carlos could land, I feel certain that Pipino would get through at some point.

Whether he landed the jawbreaker or not is the question. If not, I think he loses a decision. If so, good night sweet prince.

That is how I see it. There is a chance that Benitez would have Cuevas swinging at air all night and there is a chance that Pipino would splatter him.

Benitez, if he is at his best, by UD. If not, the potential is there for Pipino to get him around the 9th round for a stoppage.

I would actually go with Pipino who had Julian Jackson type power in his prime. I think Benitez has more skills of course but his chin is not the best and a prime Pipino had a steal chin.

Bruce Curry bounced him off the canvas and got robbed and Weston got a draw the first time.
Cuevas does not have to worry about Benitez's power because Benitez was a light puncher.
Pipino broke bones literally when he landed and if Hearns had not hurt his hand he would have stopped Benitez.
