    Who said this I wonder???

    August 2018, 9 and 10 switched in October 2018

Mitch: Wilder is the 3rd best heavyweight on "resume", KO'd 6th ranked Ortiz, who KO'd 9th ranked Jennings, who is above Chisora and by extension Takam (who Chisora KO'd). Fury doesn’t have a top 10 “resume”, he’s below the likes of Chisora.

    April 2019

Mitch: Wilder would be a top 10 heavyweight in any era

"No shot of getting in" is hyperbole, I don't think anyone with knowledge of who has actually got into the HoF or has a sense of the politics believes it. Cool if you think otherwise.

Hind sight in a wonderful thing especially after this the HWs starting fighting each other. Maybe I was guilty for falling for Hearns hype of Wilder too of him knocking out trash cans.

Ruiz beat the number 1 HW at the time. Parker won over Ruiz the then unified WC, he goes up in estimation nas does Whyte for his win over Parker.

Whilst guys in Wilders top wins in the likes of Spzilka, Washington, Dauhaupas and Ortiz got delt with easily.

Looking at it's clear to see Povetkin, Parker,Whyte and Ruiz had had better career wins than Wilder against better opposition. I don't see how this can be disputed?

You've been moving the goalposts all along. You only started underrating Wilder after Joshua got trashed by Ruiz and then Fury beat him. Prior to that you were claiming that Chisora and Kownacki were above Fury.

Wilder has never been Lineal champion. The only non lineal heavyweights that have gotten in during the modern era I believe is Jimmy Bivins whom had extensive work at light heavy and Ken Norton - took Norton 10 years and he has a win over Ali. It’s fair to say Wilder has no shot. Sven Ottke isn’t in - and he did what Wilder did held a strap and made lot of weak defenses.

Opinions change with the results of boxers. Except yours, no matter how poorly Wilder does or how poor a former opponent of Wilder does you still maintain there the greatest thing since Alice bread. Weird that.

Look at Wilder record of win of the quality of opponents and tell why its better than Whytes or Parkers (the guy who won every round against him this weekend!).

Gatti was way more popular than Wilder ever was; don't you agree?

Was Vitali lineal? He's not on this list:

Had Sven Ottke been American he'd have had a much better chance. And had he been the first American champ in the longest drought in the history of the glamour division, he'd have an ever better chance. It may be contingent on what Fury does and what other American heavies do in the next gen. We've established that you don't have to be lineal to get in.

For the vast majority of his career yes. Wilder has trouble selling tickets, even in local venues back in Alabama. His fame grew exponentially after the first Fury fight. Gatti was popular for long time. And engaged in 4 - fights of the year. Pretty incredible

"Opinions change with the results of boxers."

Your stated opinion only changed after AJ got destroyed by Ruiz and Fury beat Wilder. It was damage control to artificially prop Joshua's record up. Even after Fury beat Whyte with ease and Joshua had back to back losses, three in total, you were still putting him at number 2.

In a previous post I explained that Vitali also has the distinction of coming back from a career ending injury 4 years later and winning the title with no tune ups. His claim to lineal is murky at best I agree. Still the vast, vast majority are lineal champions. Wilder’s resume is about equal with Joseph Parker - does Parker also get in now? Parker holds wins over Wilder himself, undefeated Ruiz and Chisora. While losing to Joshua, Joyce and Whyte. You really open up a can of worms if Wilder is allowed entry. Post Wlad it should be Fury, Usyk and maybe Joshua depending on what he does. That’s it. No room for Wilder. Not when your best win is over steroid free 40 year old Ortiz. Ortiz was older than Norton was when he lost to Cooney. Let’s put Cooney in the hall of fame he Ko’s a hall of fame fighter in 90 seconds! Lol. Wilder stays home. His resume is garbage

Many claim that Vitali's resume is worse than Povetkin's, maybe so. But Vitali is Ukrainian, has a lot of defences with a historic stoppage ratio and a historically significant fight, Povetkin is Russian and never won a title. Wilder may well get in for similar reasons to Vitali.

Vitali’s resume is a little weak, but 1. It is still better than Wilders. 2. He came back from a 4 year absence to win a title 3. He was in a unique period of history where his brother held all the belts and obviously they would not fight each other.
Wilder has none of that going for him. He has never beaten a top heavy. He didn’t fight Wlad, Povetkin, Joshua or Usyk. The only top guy he fought is Fury! And his best result is a draw, against a rusty Fury that wasn’t rated. Then he got knocked out twice by him. You can’t make the hall of fame with that resume! Not at heavyweight. And the draw was seen by most as dubious. Give me the fighter in the Hall of fame that the best result on their career resume is a draw.

Ruiz beat the the number 1 HW with the best record. Only fair that Parker win over Ruiz looks better in hindsight with Ruiz becoming unified HW beating the number 1 HW.
