Nope, Davis will be fighting at 140 next year

 

Cmon. I’m one of the biggest Inoue fans on here but Tank would obliterate him. There’s weight classes for a reason.

 

Just the fact that we are considering this match up says it all about the difference between Inoue and Davis. That said, I think Davis would be a bridge too far, he is way too big for the naturally smaller Inoue, though that's not a criticism on the latter's behalf.

 

Big didn’t pacquiao move from flyweight to super welterweight. Why not inoue?

Because every body frame isn't built the same & looking at Inoue's it seems like 130 is the max he can go

Pacquiao was an exception not the norm & if Inoue does end up winning title(s) at 130, that would make him a 6 weight champ, to my knowledge only Pac would have more with 8 which shows how rare it is when only 1 man other than him did more

Also this move to 130 would happen over several years & by then Tank might be fighting at 140. So this fight is never gonna happen

 

I think Inoue may well think that at 30 his body is maxed out at 122 since he has indicated that he may still be fighting at this weight next year.

 

No, he said that after testing himself against Fulton he knew his limit wasn't at 122 but that he wanted to take his time moving to 126 to ensure that his speed & power carry instead of rushing it. He also said the most he can see himself going up to is 130 & that's where he might finish his career

Newly crowned World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization super bantamweight champion Naoya ‘’the Monster’’ Inoue of Ohashi Boxing Gym said after attending a special program of a satellite broadcasting station as a guest on Sept. 1 he has a world featherweight title in mind in the future.

Speaking before a group of reporters at the broadcasting station in Tokyo, the 30-year-old Inoue retracted his earlier comment (about the timing to move up to the featherweight division) and said advancing to the featherweight division may come earlier than expected, ‘’say within two to three years.’’

Inoue said, ‘’If I had felt any uncertainty in my challenge to then WBC and WBO champion Stephen Fulton of the United States, (in which Inoue wrested the titles with a devastating eighth-round technical knockout on July 25), I would not think about moving up to the featherweight division. But since I did not feel any pressure even a millimeter (in the fight with Fulton), I thought my capability is not here (super bantamweight).’’

At present, Inoue is expected to face World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales of the Philippines probably this year to unify the division’s titles.

Inoue said he has recently watched the video of Tapales’ fight with Hiroaki Teshigawara of Misako Boxing Gym (in December 2021 in which Tapales knocked out Teshigawara in the second round) and commented, ‘’He can move flexibly and well utilize his upper body. Since he has a good defense technique and a one-punch punching power, he may possibly be stronger than Fulton.’’

After taking some three-week rest period after the fight with Fulton, Inoue has already resumed his training with his probable fight with Tapales in mind. If the fight with Tapales is formally decided, Inoue said he will start a usual training camp about a month and a half away from the fight.

If he comes safely his fight with Tapales, Inoue said he will face former three-division world champion John Riel Casimero of the Philippines and former two-division world kingpin Luis Nery of Mexico in addition of Murodjon Akhmadaliev of Uzbekistan, (who dropped a split decision loss to Tapales to lose his WBA and IBF titles in this past April).

While Inoue used to say he will remain at super bantamweight ‘’for the time being,’’ he said, ‘’I can fight with confidence at featherweight if I clear the fights with all these four boxers.’’

He, Tapales, was stronger than Fulton. Tougher, too.

 

Tank makes 122 w/a 130lb rehydration clause.

 

Inoue did not seem "big" at 122 at all. He seems about average. He will be undersized at 126 and I wonder if his power will carry there. As is, it takes a lot more punches (as seen in Fulton and Tapales fights) to hurt the guys at 122 than it did at 118.

 

Inoue is already an ATG but for me but if he beats Casimero, Nery and Akhmad...that's pretty insane. And what a crucible of a schedule. Very Canelo-esque in that Inoue would be taking challenge after challenge without soft touches

 

He said he lost interest in the Casimero fight after Casimero's last dreadful outing (where he looked horrible to be frank), so he might end up fighting Goodman or move up after Nery & MJ. May be Goodman & Casimero can fight each other in the mean time & winner gets Inoue as Inoue's last 122 fight
