The best year Fury could have had A reminder that he is not invincible when he comes into fights without his Gypsy magic especially as he rides this downward slope that cannot be reversed. He was expecting a weight loss camp then a short camp straight into Usyk. Thankfully Francis was way more than anyone could have imaginaed and kicked any level of complacency out of Fury's big butt and doing weight loss camps with major inactivity is complacency. In fact both Fury & Usyk got a kick in their butts which should bode well for us as fans when they tangle in February. Then again now they'll both come in looking shot to pieces and overtrained lol you can never know. Wilder is a different story. That Joe Parker boxing to a plan is always hell on earth for him. He can put it down to lack of fire, poor training and timing being off all he wants.
Wilder did not look his best in terms of explosiveness or reflexes. Parker fought a great fight. He made no mistakes and did just what he needed to do. I've watched the fight a couple of times now and I think both are true.
You said it best. Their best wins are against each other. Look at who they beat prior to each other and after. Nuff said! Overrated to hell. And please, don't bring up Vlad. He was on the very end of his career. Only fought and lost 1 fight after Fury and promptly retired.
Already mentioned but I also agree that a more offensive trainer was needed for the Wilder fights but has not been needed since. Fury’s skill set seems to have either been lost or certainly done away with under Sugar Hill and Fury certainly seems a lot more hittable now than before Hill took over. Not a fan of Furys father but he has said for a while now himself that Sugar is not the right trainer for his son and the training camps are nothing more than a circus. Like I say not a fan of his but I tend to agree with him on this topic, boxer Fury would have toyed with Ngannou instead of scraping past him by the skin of his teeth fighting as a Kronk offensive fighter. Shoot me down but I’ve always thought that Ingle would have been the ideal trainer to get the best from Fury and he’s also a strict disciplinarian that Fury needs .
I agree but the Klischko fight has to be one of the worst HW championship fights in history. Neither guy did much of anything. Fury ran the whole fight. Old Vlad fought timidly and couldn't pull the trigger. I guess Vlad did less but it wasn't exactly a beatdown.
I kind of think future generations won't be able to view Fury except through Wilder, and they won't be able to view Wilder except through Fury. A similar story to Ali and Frazier, but at the same time a very different story
2023 has been a ****ing great year. Fury ducks a middleweight and the whole world laughs at him Fury loses to a UFC fighter and has to rob him to win (and got knocked down twice in the process) Fury then cries, avoids the post-fight interview to avoid talking about Usyk Fury then ducks the Dec 23rd fight date because he needs to run a cycle of PEDs Fury's 2nd biggest career win (x3) got schooled by B level heavyweight, Joseph Parker Fury's 3rd biggest win got obliterated by a bodybuilder - the same bodybuilder that Fury has ducked for 5 years Seeing you in your feelings about the downfall of Fury was great, but to now see his thin resume picked apart is ****ing brilliant. You can't even stay in character anymore. You want to try and be funny, but now that AJ is being propped up you can't help but post with emotion. Even stating that Parker was a 'former champion' whereas before the fight, you thought he was shithouse Hehe. Big dosser.
Don't be upset Fury has beaten Wlad, Wilder & Usyk all whilst they were reigning and undefeated cementing himself as the GOAT and the best of this era without question.
Ironically, Fury might have been the cherry pick gone wrong that turned out right! By which I mean, yes Wilder lost clearly - but he still gained some credit from it and if (big big if, IMHO) Fury can beat Usyk, then Fury might be a net benefit for Wilder overall. It would definitely have made a big impact on his reputation if he'd fought and beaten Joshua, but IMHO he (and/or his handlers) always knew Joshua was overwhelmingly likely to beat Wilder and didn't want it.
Wait, I just realised that Joshua stopped two of Fury's 2 big wins and someone AJ beat handily (Parker) went on to school Wilder. The same Wilder that Fury had to fight 3 times Jesus Christ, this whole time I thought Usyk was Fury's daddy. As it turns out, it's a bodybuilder.
