The idea that Ali used the rope a dope as a strategy against Frazier is nonsense. He was forced to the ropes by Frazier, and it was all he could do to clinch up and sacrifice his body to protect his head.

There is an old rule in boxing:
"Everything else matched, the big fighter defeats the small fighter".

This is one of the rare situations where that rule could be broken.

Joe has the stamine and toughness to survive long enough to start smoking, and being Wlad so big just means his left hook can't miss.

On the other side Wlad has a massive physical advantage with enough range and punching power to stop Joe.

In my opinion all this comes to wether this will be a fair fight or Wlad wil be allowed a free pass with his ring shenaningans

    - If this is a fair fight then odds 50 - 50, could go any way.
    - If Wlad is allowed his usual holding and clinching then I don't see a way for Joe to win.

To give you an idea of the size mismatch, this guy is significantly bigger than Frazier

Wlad has never fought against all time great opposition.his most dangerous opponents were povetkin and haye, who while good, wouldn't be top level contenders historically.
obviously wlad is a very talented fighter, but he has glaring weaknesses that Joe Frazier has the style to exploit. He never had the best gas tank and he made up for it with a very low workrate. His chin wasn’t the best, which is why he adopted the jab and grab style to cover up. He was afraid to let his hands go, something his trainer always criticised him for even between rounds. As a result of the aforementioned weakness, he was a brilliant, but one dimensional outboxer who had no inside game, and rarely ever fought at midrange, never exploiting his power to its full potential. Frazier’s high work rate, pressure fighting, aggressive defensive, inside game, body punching, and power would be hard for wlad to cope with.
Foreman never clinched Frazier. That would’ve opened him up for body shots. He pushed, pulled, and steered Frazier out to his punching range, and even exchanged with him at midrange. He was never afraid to let his hands go because he trusted his chin to take any stray shots. Wlad didn’t fight like this. He clinched and waited for the ref to break it up, he didn’t really start throwing power shots until his opponent was worn out from his jabbing and grabbing.

Wlad is fast, but he’s still not in Ali’s league as far as speed is considered even past his peak.

I love Frazier, one of my favorite boxers. Okay. I'm realistic here. Figure Joe to be stopped faster than Foreman stopped him in 1973. Ppl forget what a lethal, fast, accurate, strong 242 pound boxer Wlad was in his prime. Wlad would stop a prime Ali too. No fighter from the 60/70ies beat a prime Wlad. I even think a prime Corrie Sanders would have a good chance vs Frazier and Ali. Again, I never get tired of watching Frazier and Ali on youtube, they were great fighters in a fantastic carismatic timeperiod. Joe and Ali today would be fighting in the lightheavyweight division, or as very small cruiserweights. Ali was 201½ pounds for the rematch with Cooper, Frazier was 204 in his prime in 1971. Either of them beat a monster like a prime Wlad. Wlad had genuine one punch power in his fast left hook.

You are so right. I can't believe all the nonsens and fairytales about the past fighters chances vs. the modern 245 -270 pound men.

There isn’t a big difference in skill, sure. But there is a big difference in style, and the stylistic matchup favours Frazier.
In the early rounds maybe. Past three rounds even Ali had trouble landing jabs on him.
he didn’t. His inside fighting doubled as a defence by smothering his opponent’s punches while getting his own shots off.
You mean besides throwing his lead left hook? I’m pretty sure he did that often.
he's still gonna be susceptible to hip punches and body shots. Frazier knew how to go with his opponents clinching and pick off shots from where they hold him.
wladimir is too gunshey to throw many power shots. He needed a leashing from manny steward just to finish off an opponent.

How often will Wlad attempt to throw power shots? Let’s not forget after his defeats to low level opposition that he became a cautious boxer who rarely threw power punches with volume.
He took plenty of punishment against ali and foreman. Both of whom are ATG heavyweight who were willing to let their hands go. Foreman threw far more power punches against Frazier than wlad did in any of his big fights.
George Foreman, Oscar bonavena, George chuvalo, Jerry quarry, and Eddie machen. All of those guys were considered to have a big punch.

Well Frazier bores in non stop so i doubt he'll just watch him all night. Could be wrong.

He was up and down like a yoyo against Foreman. As a matter of fact he was down 6 times in under 5 1/2 minutes. Fair to say he avoided a lot of power punches too and George was certainly letting his hands go. Let's not put Ali in any sort of bracket with Wlad for power no matter how many times he hit Joe. Ali and Holmes lathered Norton heaps with little effect. One punch power is a different animal.

Stop it. Eddie Machen was closer to a powderpuff than a big puncher. Foreman's the only name remotely close to Wlad's stratosphere for power.

Tell me YDKSAB without telling me YDKSAB. Wlad's career was virtually built on grinding down aggressive small men who thought that all they needed to do was get close.

You want critical thinking and an historical analysis of why Frazier flogs Wlad ? Here goes:

    Ross Purity
    Corrie Sanders
    Lamon Brewster

Povetkin and Haye? Do Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua not exist?

Again, you must not be thinking of prime Wlad. Joe Frazier threw 42 punches a round in FOTC against Ali. In Wlad's fight with Haye he threw...42 punches per round. Wlad's workrate would be just fine.

This is somewhat true, but bare in mind that he was only ever TKO'd by other tall and hard hitting super heavyweights, the smallest of which was 6'3 230 in Sanders, the heaviest of which was 6'6 250lbs in AJ (that he fought at 41 years old, and got TKO'd in the 11th round). In other words, the lightest fighter that Wlad ever got knocked out by was heavier than the heaviest fighter Frazier got knocked out by.

You realize that Wlad could be considered just as "one dimensional" as Frazier right? You could just say Frazier walked forward and threw power shots and hooks. A one dimensional come forward swarmer giving up 40lbs, 7 inches of height and 8 inches of reach to a one dimensional jab, grab and straight right punching boxer puncher. That and AGAIN, Prime Wlad has good punch variety anyway dudes hands was so fast he could triple and quadruple up his hooks when going in for the kill. Joe could get jabbed to death and hugged to death and make absolutely zero adjustments to his game-plan. It's funny because I think a lot of the Pro-Frazier camp actually know this deep down, which is why most of the arguments have been "Wlad would have to kill him", implicit in that statement the admission that Wlad wouldn't have any problem knocking him TFO repeatedly lol.

You're a good poster so i'm not sure why you're being so intentionally obtuse. In a discussion about Prime Frazier and Prime Wlad, you're bringing up Wlad's PRE-PRIME losses to the 6'3 250lbs Purity, 6'4 230lbs Sanders, and the 6'3 230lbs Brewster to suggest that a PRIME Wlad loses to the 5'11 205lbs Joe Frazier? You're being totally unserious and like i've said several times, basically just trolling at this point.
