Is that... because it was delayed so much with the need to "prove" themselves again, as if they weren't champs with multiple defences already which proved that they were top fighters?

Had they faced each other at the weekend it would have still had meaning.

But it's over 4 years since Wilder last beat a ranked opponent. He's 1-3 in his last 4 fights. He's 38.

There's better fights out there for AJ.

This fight has definitely lost its shine but i'd still tune in.

Wilder simply never turned up on the night, did he?.

I think Wilders done at this point personally.

Considering usyk and fury are tied up for the foreseeable future I don't hate it.

If fury beats usyk I'd be interested in fury vs AJ and I imagine AJ is holding out hope for that scenario

Ideally AJ should face hrgovic/Zhang though I think I'd prefer hrgovic and Zhang do a rematch

Maybe AJ fights hrgovic and Zhang fights Parker?

After all the crap talking and accusations flung at Joshua from Wilder and his fans I want to see the fight just to watch Wilder get beaten up and his fans left with nothing to defend him with.

I've always thought it was a fun fight, but now I'm not so sure it makes any sense.

Will really need to see how Wilder looks next time out. There's ZERO point in it being the next fight, give Joshua has bigger opportunities on the horizon against either Hrgovic or Zhang for belts - and fighting a Wilder who just lost pretty much every second of a 12 rounder will look like a cash grab to his detractors - whilst also being the epitome of low reward/high risk (let's face it, he would be expected to crush Wilder now coming off such a loss - anything less and people would be very critical).

IF Wilder manages a couple of decent wins in the meantime, then yeah - stylistically I think it would still be a fun fight. But we really need to see what Wilder brings to the table cos he's currently in the "who needs him" club after that drubbing.

Might sound harsh, but hopefully it motivates Wilder to step up to the plate.

Joshua's got a resume that shows he's a top fighter.

Wilder was always assumed to be a top fighter, but despite being a champ with multiple defences, his best win (Ortiz) was arguably not even genuinely contender level - quantity isn't a substitute for quality, and Wilder's resume is massively lacking in quality.

I'm definitely in the "nah, no point" camp right now.

I've been quite open here that I've been expecting it not to happen for several years - and accepted it probably won't... So I have no emotional investment in seeing it.

At the same time, the main reason I was ever keen to see it was to see the Wilder myth broken - to see him humbled when he stepped up to world's level, especially against a fighter his fans (not all, but many) had been denigrating for years... Well, Parkers already provided there, so there's no need to see him destroyed by Joshua now - I'm not against it, but it's not a priority.

I think it will be a good fight even if it means nothing more than bragging rights.

AJ is the far superior fighter. With the far superior resume both amateur and pro. With far superior skills. We don't have to play the spin doctoring game to hype him up or confirm his legitimacy because his talent, resume and accomplishments speak for themselves, whereas, conversely, that"s exactly what The Dosser's DKSAB spin merchants do and have to do all the time to try and convince us of their boy's legitimacy and into believing he isn't an extremely low skill manufactured can crushing one-trick pony hype job who forged an entire career fighting low skill refuse collectors, fishermen, and social workers who the WBC rigged their rankings with to keep the gravy train rolling. The industrial levels of disingenuity and spin his cultists have to apply to convince others of his legitimacy is off the charts.

Put a fork in his ass because he's where he belongs and has always belonged now - right at the bottom of the rankings in irrelevancy.

This fight was supposed to happen while both men were fresher and undefeated it's ridiculous that this fight is still being unsuccessfully talked up as if it had the potential to happen...

I’d much rather see Wilder get schooled by Joyce, Zhang or embarrassed by Opetia.

Hell, put Chisora in to finish the job.
