It's pretty amazing that in the many rounds Parker has gone with blue chip boxers (Ruiz, AJ, Whyte, Joyce, Wilder) that he hasn't managed to catch any of them with a flash knockdown shot. I put the late Whyte knockdown as at least half exhaustion. You'd think law of averages he'd fluke a crisp shot over 60 rounds.
Franklin always kind of reminded me of peak Stiverne. Shorter counter puncher who doesn't move that well. I think he's actually a tougher fight for Parker than Wilder due to styles. Franklin's counters will punish Parker for his aggression. Parker can and will get off first but he'll take shots in reply. I think it might be more competitive than expected but in the end Franklin doesn't have anything to really hurt Parker with and Parker can move well enough to keep Franklin off him when needed to earn a clear decision. Will be interesting to see how Parker does in his next fight. He never looked better vs Wilder but that might have been due to Wilder simply being the perfect style for him or simply Wilder being out of his depth at that level as he's never beaten anyone as proven as Parker. Has Andy Lee really made big improvements in Parker or was it simply Wilder being that bad.
He just doesn't hit very hard. Some of the shots he was landing on Joyce and Joe just walked through them. Compare that to the damage Zhang did. I'd say Parker is one of the most light handed guys in the division.
