What are the best boxing matches that could've happened that didn't happen I don't mean matching 2 fighters from different eras or different times in their careers What are the best fights boxing fans missed out on
Jack Dempsey vs Harry Greb (We would actually have Greb fight footage) Roberto Duran vs Alexis Arguello Wladimir Klitschko vs Vitali Klitschko Thomas Hearns vs Mike McCallum Prime Mayweather vs Prime Pacquiao.
I would love to see (Looking back, since it's not really my time and I can't say "have seen") those two match-ups in lower weight-classes: 1) Rafael Marquez vs Veeraphol Sahaprom - Bantamweight - 2003-2006~ They were number 1 and 2 at 118 for couple years. Both very technical boxer-punchers. We got some great rivalries from both, but They could've made for another great one together, imo. 2) Marc "Too Sharp" Johnosn vs Yuri Arbachakov - Flyweight, 1995-1997~ Quite similary - WBC champion based in Asia and IBF champion based in U.S that were champions at the same time for couple years of their prime. Another oustanding technical match-up between two smaller fighters with good power.
Lennox Lewis vs Riddick Bowe Salvador Sanchez vs Eusebio Pedroza Roy Jones Jr vs Dariusz Michaelczewski Carlos Palomino vs Pipino Cuevas Felix Trinidad vs Ike Quartey Lupe Pintor vs Jeff Chandler Erik Morales vs Juan Manuel Marquez Mark Johnson vs Johnny Tapia Jung Koo Chang vs Myung Woo Yuh Sergey Kovalev vs Adonis Stevenson Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Juan Manuel Lopez
Arguello vs sanchez Ioka vs inoue/gonzalez(still possible) Pryor vs leonard Duran vs cervantes Galaxy vs onizuka/watanabe
That's when I first heard about fight having to be "marinated". Was probably going to happen if Lopez got past Salido, but We know what happend there.
