With a clear victory, does he break into the top 20 boxers of all time?

No oldhead rubbish please, putting random 1930s welterweights with 80-15-15 records over Floyd, but any 21C boxer cracking the top 20 (of all time) is an extremely difficult feat, as we all know

    What do you think?

    Yes...

He beats the best HW of this era and surpasses Holyfield

Which makes him a Top 20.

Don't ignore his speculator amateur career also. The fact there isn't that much competition at cruiser and he had a slightly longer am career took away the time he had in pro boxing. He could have achieved more...just as Fury could have achieved more.

When Fury beats him though I don't want to hear anyone say anything bad about either. No doubt the excuses will come out. belittling Usyk and Fury.

Fury already said it he wins, they say Usyk was too small. He loses they say he was never any good. No way to win.

The real important thing is for people to impartially score the fight because it could easily be a close scorecard points fight and when that happens in a fight like this we get close cards and we get many biased stupid scorecards.

Like if Usyk legit outboxes Fury like Lennox did Holyfield I by a number of rounds to get robbed you think I'll stay quiet and commit to Fury? Hell no I'll state the truth and give a man his dues. Although there will be haters who are going to give Usyk rounds that Fury won and vice versa. Biased people disgust me. I'd never score a boxing fight unfairly due to bias.

I'm just happy to know that when Usyk loses he will be complete in his heart. He won't be upset or down at a loss. He was happy to have got so far, only to lose to Lazarus himself.

Honestly ? No. It's a very hard task. It's no knock on Usyk, he has already cemented himself as the GOAT Cruiserweight, and making himself the crystal clear best Heavyweight of his generation is plenty in itself.

But being a top 20 ATG in Boxing is an extremely difficult thing to do, everyone there was a monster. We're talking about a very exclusive group of fighters. A group that guys like Holyfield, Spinks, Hearns, Hagler and Chavez don't belong in. It's that difficult.

    Yes he does for me.

How do you ask a question about ALL TIME greatness and then ask people to exclude old time fighters?

If and ands were pots and pans you'd never have to do the dishes.
Fury wins = there will be excuses about a low blow, size difference etc.
Usyk wins = It's because he's the 2nd coming of Ali or something.
    Blah blah blah

No, he's almost 37 with a record of 21-0 with 14 ko's and his best wins are 2 UD's over AJ.
He's not in the top 20 of all time heavyweights, much less pound for pound ATG's

No that means Holyfield would be in the top 20 aswell then surely going by that logic ? his Cruiserweight record is on par with Usyk's and his Heavyweight record totally eclipses Usyk's with wins over Tyson x2, Foreman, Moorer, Bowe, Holmes, Mercer, etc.

So to answer the question no i wouldn't rate Usyk over the likes of.....

    Chavez
    Mayweather
    Pacquiao
    Leonard
    Armstrong
    Robinson
    Duran
    Pep
    Louis
    Hearns
    Hagler
    Greb
    Charles
    Langford
    RJJ
    Whitaker
    Hopkins
    Holyfield
    M.Spinks
    Arguello

    etc

Fury's stock has gone way down since he looked like crap vs Ngannou and arguably lost to an MMA fighter.

Lewis was alot more proven against world class fighters compared to Fury, he beat 4 times as many ranked fighters as Fury and wasn't coming off an abysmal performance vs an MMA fighter.

Usyk also hasn't been in anywhere close to Holyfield list of tough opponents or been in as many tough fights.

I'll give Usyk the credit if he beats Fury likewise if Fury beats Usyk but neither would be in my top 20 no matter what happens.

Holyfield beating Bowe ----> Usyk beating Fury

Holyfield beating Tyson ----> Usyk beating Joshua

Not to mention all the other filler wins Holyfield has vs Holmes, Foreman, Moorer, Mercer, etc.

I love the guy and what he stands for, but no. Top 1 or 2 CW absolutely but not HW. Not enough time in the division and he'll retire soon.

I think there is a 2 way rematch clause in the fight contract.

Only fight after Usyk if Fury wins the fight or both fights, will be the Anthony Joshua fight. Fury doesn't really need to take that fight if he beats Usyk twice, but if Joshua has a spectacular 2023 winning 3 good fights then I could see a lot of demand for Fury to prove himself against Joshua.

As for Usyk, if he beats both fights against Fury, I think he will retire as there wont be anyone to fight. Unless someone does a Sonny Liston and destroys all the top 10 within an incredibly short space of time but as we know we are in a very different era now.

    Yes.

First undisputed cruiserweight champ of the four belt era, and first heavyweight champ of the four belt era, and without a defeat.

People citing that he has only had 21 fights have it all backwards--he only needed 21 fights to do it. Well, 22.

Yeah. You're probably right, and looking back I didn't properly think it through. The contents of this thread have helped me reconsider.
