Your Favorite Thai Boxer of All ?

sahaprom, wonjongkam and chertchai chionoi are some of my obvious favorites but somchai chartchai was just an awesome fighter who often gets forgotten

 

@Terror mentioned Chatchai Sasukal. I too saw his fight recently with Manny Pacquiao because i wanted to see Pac's title winning moment and I was totally shocked on two fronts. One, was how Pac was dominated and two, was the skill level I saw from this Thai, whom I really never gave thought to. I had to see more and watched both his fights with Yuri and came away thinking that this was one of the most stylish boxers I've seen. Man, I know he was the victim of a one-punch KO from Manny, but history would be written on this man had he managed to hang on for that decision, knowing what Manny went on to.

 

sot was so good, his series with jung (another criminally underrated fighter) is one of my favourites in the sport

 

Almost forgot about him. He had a crowd pleasing Ali-influenced style, hard puncher and great jabber. Awesome fighter when he's on form.

 

I can see that. He did start out in Muay Thai first before transitioning to boxing and perhaps brought that technique with him when he boxed. I think he was called the Thai Ali at one point as well.

 

They do indeed, those Prince Naseem type pull backs are pretty common in world level fights. It's honestly one of the coolest things in combat sports

 

Will definitely give it a watch, I've not seen anywhere near Thai as I have boxing, so I always like to see new fighters. I was on a bit of a Tawanchai kick - no pun intended - just last night. What a beast, he is.

 

Yeah scar, Sasakul was making Pac look like a mug wasn't he? He was an excellent fighter though, skilled and pleasing to watch. It's funny and tough to believe in hindsight but the loss at the time was viewed as a bit of an embarrassment for Sasakul by many, such a skilled fighter who'd beaten Arbachakov being iced by a crude, unknown kid.

 

I like scar mentioning Borkhorsor. Beast.

Sahaprom and Payakaroon are two other personal favourites. I ought to like Chionoi a lot more for the Torres and Ohba fights but have always been a bit of a bitter c*nt towards him for cutting up McGowan when he was getting his head boxed off.

I really like watching Chitalada at his best, but he could be flat and frustrating due to being a weight-drained husk. He has a claim to being the best fly of the 80s imo though I rate Laciar higher.

Sor Rungvisai I also like despite wanting to post him an envelope full of turds and anthrax for the depressingly stupid tactics in the Estrada rematch.
