I guess it would be Hrgovic-Parker for the IBF title, then.

The last time IBF rankings were updated was Dec 14, they were...

    Filip Hrgovic
    Otto Wallin
    Anthony Joshua
    Joseph Parker
    Jared Anderson
    Frank Sanchez
    Arslanbek Makhmudov
    Daniel Dubois
    Efe Ajagba
    Fabio Wardley
    Martin Bakole
    Agit Kabayel
    Murat Gassiev
    Justis Huni
    Kem Ljungquist

Obviously, Wallin will go down, Parker, Kabeyel and Dubois and Sanchez will go up,

Joshua was signed for Ngannau apparently.

I would think Parker will move up to #3 with Wallin dropping, and I don't see why Kabeyel, Dubois or Sanchez did enough to bump him.

    Has to be Hrgovic-Parker.

    So who takes it?

    It's a hard one.

Hrgovic is quite similiar to Joyce, and I think that actually helped Zhang a lot against Joyce. As it allowed Zhang to really prepare for the Joyce fight having being extra prepared for such a style of fighter.

Parker may have improved but he seems to struggle against those type of fighters, and I think Hrgovic has a bit more to him than Joyce does. I fancy a Hrgovic points decision.

Parker has already said no to a fight with Hrgovic once.

    Nqh, mate it won't be.

Hearn has already explained this. The IBF situation won't be resolved in February/March. They can't strip Usyk the moment he wins or lose to Fury. It will take quite some time.
You have to prepare the fight. You cannot wait for the last moment to announce the fight, and the fighters won't have a preparation.

We also don't know what will happen in Fury/Usyk. As Fury/Usyk may decide to retire after the first fight and then they will defend their title against Hrgovic.
    Nothing is given.

Hearn has already said that IBF title fight prolly won't happen before the summer. AJ doesn't want to wait until the summer and want's to fight 3-4x time in 2024 as well.

It's going to be AJ - Hrgovic in the summer. Prolly a June/July/August.

No guarantee that the IBF would be vacated by March 9th. When the IBF order the defence against Hrgovic, and gives them a deadline to negotiate, who's to say Fury (presuming he wins) doesn't string it out to the last minute before he vacates just to be spiteful?

How does this make sense, though? If it happens in the summer, then he winner (Usyk) will have time to defend.

We don't know for sure when Usyk - Fury 2 will happen or even will it happen ?
The only thing IBF has said is they are giving permission for the Usyk - Fury, and they won't allow a rematch, before the IBF mandatory took place.

So tell me how are AJ supposed to fight Hrgovic in March, when Fury - Usyk is in February, and IBF first need to wait and see if Usyk/Fury going to fight the mandatory, then they will need some time to strip if Fury/Usyk decide to not fight, and then they had to mandate a fight for the vacant IBF title.

That fight has to go through negotiation, prolly even purse bids, date, etc, etc, and then it will take at least 3 months, as the fighter must have a camp to prepare for that fight.

Nothing of that will happen in March time.

But let's say IBF will strip Usyk/Fury straight away for example on February the 20th. They will then order the Number 1 vs Number 2 for the vacant title, right ?
So that's AJ vs Hrgovic. They will give them 30+ days for negotiation, as this is a basic practice, and when that date expire there will be purse bid. So at the very least that will be the end of March. Aka AJ - Ngannou fight will be long done.
When they agree on the negotiation, they will set up the fight in 2-3-4 month time, aka exactly June/July/August time.

This is how Boxing has always worked.

BTW, the only thing that could derail the fight is Ngannou beating AJ.

... Or Parker going up a spot in the rankings

Which will mean he fights for it instead of AJ

I don't think this can happen, as Wallin was number 2 ranked, and AJ was number 3. Parker was number 4, and Wilder wasn't in the top 15 in the IBF.
AJ fought the higher ranked opponent(not the better one, but still).
So there is no way Parker could move in front of AJ.

Based on rankings though, AJ should have been number 1. Hrgovic last opponent was an absolutely joke, and it wasn't in the top 100 prolly.
But i think Hrgovic is with the status mandatory, and he can't lose it like that, unless he fight for the title and loses.

Hearn ain't stupid guys, he is taking the big money from Ngannou, and got the Hrgovic fight in the back for the summer. Then AJ will prolly fight Zhang, by the end of the year, and waiting for Undisputed/Fury(even when Fury loses) next year.

Usyk won't fight AJ for 3rd time in this i'm almost certain.

Only because Parker had the Joyce WBO no1 contender fight lined up (bigger fight)

He ain’t scared of Hrgovic lol they’ve already fought in the amateurs.

This would be a tough fight, I voted for Hrgovic to win on points, but this would be almost 50-50, it should be taken into account that Parker is more proven...

There is still option that Hrgovic vs Joshua fight happend for the IBF tittle.

All depends on federation move and results of Usyk vs Fury fight.

I think Joshua AIM for Fury fight. If he win with Usyk even if they strip his belt Joshua choose him
If he lose their fight disapear and Hrgovic fight would be much better option.

    Parker vs Hrgovic?
Parker not by accident said no to IBF federation and Filip fight in past.
Filip is all bad for him. Hrgovic would win before last bell.

Style make fight. Its easier to look nice with one trick pony dude who even dont throw jabs. Its lot harder when u face bigger Man with skills WHO want brawl and punch often.

Filip is better than Joyce. Quicker, punch harder (more dinamic) and probably he got even better chin (years before nobody would belive that somebody can have better chin in the division than JJ).

He is all wrong for Parker.

Tough fight for Parker, this new Parker is more aggressive but I think Hrgovic is the bigger puncher and has one of the best right hands in the division, far more harder to avoid than Wilder's. For Parker to win he needs to back Hrgovic up where he's not as effective and that will be hard to do. I'm favouring Hrgovic to win a close decision.
