Where I come from, ad nauseum is a saying we got for combining the Latinx words for addition of noses and museums. You add a nose and a museum together you got adding a nauseum or ad nauseum or added nauseum interruptus louius ferrignious. I was educated in Latinx as a boy.

I don't think stamina would play a significant part in this war.

My pick is Dempsey.
Faster of hand,faster of foot,better defence,better resistance to cuts,longer reach,less predictable. An all out war on which I would not bet a penny.
It would be my first pick of H2H mythical fights to watch,with Dempsey v Louis second.

 

Siki was never in the frame for a Dempsey fight,he would have been thrashed.
Dempsey had Jeannette thrown at him as a last minute substitute in an exhibition for charity in which Dempsey was donating his services for free,it was a deliberate stitch up.Jack Kearns realizing that if he allowed Jack to give a public exhibition with Jeannette it would revitalize cries for Dempsey to engage in mixed race bouts fights,vetoed the exhibition.Jeannette was about 40 at the time I don't think Dempsey had anything to fear from him,it was more about not establishing a precedent imo others may disagree.
Marciano's no1 contender at the end of 1953 and 54 was Nino Valdes,they never fought.

 

I like Rocky’s honest and common sense appraisal.

If Dempsey doesn’t get him quick, then it gets stripped down to sheer will and stamina - it’s no slight on Dempsey to perhaps give Rocky the edge in those departments.

Fair to say that Dempsey would represent the hardest puncher Rocky faced?

Ultimately, putting aside respectful courtesies and genuine/practical account for what the other guy brings to the table, both men would totally believe they can win this.

Of course we can expect both men to fight strictly by the book.

I like Jack by TKO early, Walcott and Moore put Marciano down early and Dempsey would too. But in this case, rising off the canvas against the Manassa Mauler is something Rocky wouldn't survive.

I see Dempsey getting Rocky out of there quickly, before Rocky can really get his groove on and get into the fight. Dempsey is IMO too explosive for the slow starting Marciano

I think you yourself posted that they offered Valdez a fight, and he physically threw Al Weil out of the dressing room. That is not a good way to negotiate. Anyway, Valdez thrice had and thrice lost a #1 spot. He is not a great mystery in the same sense as Harry Wills--he lost twice to Archie Moore and lost a lot of fights overall. The Valdez thing is only a thing to modern fans who ponder how Marciano would have done against a big man.
